It's so hard to like Denis Leary and despise the Red Sox at the same time. It's tough, but I manage.

I'm assuming that's the Leary/Clark bit from NESN a while back (stupid work blocking youtube grumble grumble). I was watching that game at a friends house and we. were. DYING. It was even better when we saw it live, because it was so damn random.

Damn, and I used to think Kolby was pretty cool.

Someone should cover the Olsens with a nice spice rub and then drop them into a hole filled with wolverines.

Wolverine: "I ain't eatin' this shit!"

Ok, that was hilarious. I can't wait to show my mom, since she raised me up properly as both an Irish Catholic AND a Red Sox fan. She'll love it.

Vermillion, I heart you. Trying to redeem AvP is a feat in itself, and anyone who digs the gorgeous-yet-underrated Sanaa Lathan is ok by me.

Yeah, that Leary clip is a year or so old, but it's still priceless. I think the funniest part is the way to professional announcers are just losing their shit, gasping for air and scrambling for water cups while Leary and Lenny just keep rolling. Awesome!

Posted by: Bright Phoenix at August 29, 2007 6:28 PM

I think Denis Leary is an asshole in the worst way, but that clip is still damn funny. I recall seeing it when it first hit Youtube, and I couldn't breathe from laughing so hard.

Posted by: Daphne at August 29, 2007 6:54 PM

ok, it is pitiful that fur is still being used. and, even more unfortunate that 'celeb' fashion utilizes it sometimes, but c'mon...

"- Their fashion line was developed to take advantage of their fan base."

bullshit. the olsens aren't using their name on the new line and won't appear in any of the advertising. not to mention that most of the fan base is still in college and won't be able to afford any of it.

hate them for using fur. that's it.

Oh, I remember that game vividly - you always know it will be funny with Leary and Lenny in the booth, but that almost killed me! It also happened to coincide with a discussion with a friend earlier that week, about how we thought the Sox had the most Jewish players with Youk, Gabe, and Adam Stern (and if we bend the rules a touch, Theo too). The best is that Remy and Don both just lost it laughing... Good times!

Posted by: Ambiepony at August 29, 2007 8:36 PM

Daphne... of COURSE he's an asshole... don't you remember his song???? What was it called?? Oh yeah, "Asshole"!

When Leary was on the Daily Show, they were talking about Jewish baseball players again, and Denis brought up the Mets because Jon is a Mets fan. Denis asked if David Wright was Jewish, and then admitted he knew he wasn't, but wanted to start a rumor that he was.

A lot of people think the Marlins' first baseman Mike Jacobs is Jewish, and the Marlins even gave out Jacobs t-shirts on Jewish Heritage night. Jacobs, if course, is not Jewish.

Aside from the cruelty/impracticality/overall evilness argument I think my main problem with fur lies around the whole "haggared and creepy old woman who is completely detached from reality and has delusions of grandeur" vibe I get from it.

Actually, that pretty much sums up my problem with the Olsen twins also.

Why did you link to that disgusting comment
regarding Roger Ebert? That comment was beyond
the pale. It was obviously written by a
sociopath. There is no excuse for such filth.
If you don't recognize the evil of that comment,
I suggest psychiatric consultation.
Sincerely,
Bill Patterson

Posted by: Bill Patterson at August 30, 2007 10:28 AM

Oh, jam it up your ass, Patterson. What the hell are you blathering on about?

Posted by: TK at August 30, 2007 10:36 AM

So, Bill is more offended by the potential malplacement (ooh, new word!) of thumbs than anything else on that list? Maybe I read too many psycho-serial killer mysteries, but when people start spewing way too much vitriol over inconsequential things, I get seriously creeped out. Especially when they use the word "filth" or some variation of it; they're usually the ones who go bat-shit crazy and start hacking people to itty-bitty bits.

Posted by: pinkcheese at August 30, 2007 10:49 AM

What Tk said. I read the comment he left on Quizlaw too and I gotta say I still don't get it.

Posted by: Alex the Odd at August 30, 2007 10:57 AM

Wait, who is Bill Patterson again?

Posted by: litelysalted at August 30, 2007 11:04 AM

Nice, TK. Permission to use that phrase when talking to my mother-in-law? Because if it's trademarked, I don't want you comin' at me all lawyered up and shit.

Olsens are creepy. They have always looked like those creepy little troll dolls to me. Now they look like creepy little troll dolls that smoke.

Posted by: wsapnin at August 30, 2007 12:59 PM

wsapnin, what's mine is yours. Take it, try it on, see if it fits.

Posted by: TK at August 30, 2007 1:30 PM

Can anyone let me in on what Bill Patterson is so, um, miffed about? I read the whole QuizLaw piece and the entry above, and I just can't figure it out, and it's giving me a headache.

Posted by: Jerce at August 30, 2007 1:41 PM

Maybe Bill Patterson is Roger Ebert?

Posted by: pinkcheese at August 30, 2007 1:46 PM

Wait, when did Ebert learn how to use the internet?
