HOLY FUCKING SHIT! “The State” is finally coming to DVD!!!!! Drinks on me, people! (TVShowsOnDVD)

Okay, so yesterday I refrained from posting a link to Harry Potter spoilers. You’re welcome. So instead, here are some spoiler-free predictions. (Galley Slaves)

If you think working at ESPN would be more fun than your own shitty job — well, you’re dead wrong. (YesButNoButYes)

Shat-tastic! A rare pre-Star Trek Shatner interview from 1966! (Popoholic)

That sound you just heard was a half digested bagel mixed with Diet Coke splattering all over my lap. (Yeeeah!)

I wager Best Buy will think twice in the future before recruiting employees from a work release program. (QuizLaw)

It just goes to show, you can slap Hello Kitty on just about any product, and idiots will buy it. What’s that you say? My Hello Kitty change purse? Screw you man, that’s functional. (Agent Bedhead)

Photoshop continues to terrorize the hell out of our female celebrities. (Feministing)

Check out this retarded new thing for the Wii system — after the jump!

Awwww yeah! Put your ass in the puddin!

Two hundred ... and forty dollars ... worth of puddin'. Oh yeahhh.

Posted by: X at July 19, 2007 4:21 PM

FINALLY! I just wrote a blog about that, too. It must be floating around in the collective conscious...

Is it wrong that I want the WiiFit thing?

Posted by: Lizzie at July 19, 2007 4:30 PM

I know that particular WiiFit ad is a joke, but seriously, its not for gamers. Its for bored adults with little kids that haven't touched a game system older than a PlayStation 2.

Posted by: madamz at July 19, 2007 4:59 PM

Ahem. I am on the waiting list for a wii, and I do not have kids. I like it because it's FUN and EASY and no one will ever give me instructions like down down right right up A B C right right down left. It's about time they made a game system for the uncoordinated rest of us.

Oh, and a big THANK YOU on the Harry Potter spoilers; as someone who has been anxiously awaiting the book, I get so mad when people randomly post sstuff I don't want to see in places I don't expect it...You know what would be awesome? If Harry survives and becomes a Pajiba staff member. That would be my whole life wrapped up in one sad little package.

Oh you mean like this vaguelyamish? ;-) Similar to when people posted spoilers about my dear Sopranos, huh? Karma's a bitch.

I am dying to play the Wii, and I could care less about video games usually, GTA being the exception. The only system I ever owned was a GameBoy. And I mean the FIRST edition, the big clunky-ass model with the green screen. But damn, I would totally try that WiiFit.

I never watched "The State" but my brother did, so I thank you, because he'll scream with joy at the news.

Posted by: Brie at July 19, 2007 5:50 PM

SHATNER!! Never has somebody with so little talent built such a solid career. You kind of have to adore him, just for that.

Posted by: Telis at July 19, 2007 5:50 PM

I have been waiting for The State for years forced to watch my ghetto vhs recordings of it. And it's coming out with commentary!! I don't know what I did to deserve this.

Posted by: lex at July 19, 2007 6:00 PM

The State on DVD! I wanna dip my balls in it!

Posted by: RAT at July 19, 2007 6:46 PM

I've actually got a Wii. Mr. Salted got it the very first day they came out. He drove past all the nerds camped out at Target, Best Buy and Toys R Us -- and then decided to check Sears on a whim. He walked right in and picked up one of three they had in stock.

It's fun, but the novelty has worn off for me. The man is still addicted to it, though.

Posted by: litelysalted at July 19, 2007 7:01 PM

Harry Potter!?!?!

already read it.

BAM!

Posted by: BarbadoSlim at July 19, 2007 9:54 PM

Lets get one thing straight: I waited in front of Target for 12 hours on launch day in a damn snowstorm to acquire my Wii. I was referring specifically to Wii Fit, the software, and how its realistically not aimed toward serious video game players.

Posted by: madamz at July 19, 2007 10:48 PM

My husband will be delighted when The State is released on DVD. We too have ghetto VHS recordings of all the episodes. And a VCR that barely works. Makes for some interesting viewing.

I won't even mention my love for Hello Kitty. Or how much I want that new gadget. Or the fact that I have no less than 4 Hello Kitty items sitting on my desk. Or that my guest bathroom is decorated in a Hello Kitty theme. Or my two pairs of Hello Kitty pajamas. Or......hmm, maybe I should stop talking now.

Has anyone played Rayman Raving Rabbids on the Wii? I'm going to have to enter a 12 step program... again.

What I like about the system is that my friend's 5-year-old can play it, my other friend's 55-year-old mom can play it and my video game crazy husband can play it... and all are happy.

Not to mention my uncoordinated arse can manage most games on the system. I don't think I made it past the original Nintendo (unless you count Guitar Hero).

Posted by: superEdna at July 20, 2007 12:32 AM

What the crap's a Wii? Why the crap is it named that? Who the crap named it that? I can't play video games because I'm a pianist and that shit'll bust up my hands.

Anyway, I'm still working through the Wooster and Jeeves books. I'm a hundred per cent serious, they're good. I thought I should qualify that I really don't know what that is, because it looks like I turned into a major spaz-lameoid-scab without noticing. Anyone else here into Gabriel Faure? I'm serious. Mmmph, I'll just drink my milk now.

Posted by: M at July 20, 2007 12:33 AM

Hot damn. Time for some Froggie Jamboree.

Posted by: agent bedhead at July 20, 2007 12:52 AM

superedna - I love Raymans and I don't even like playing video games (yes, even the Wii). Try watching the youtube clips for the sequel game, coming out next year I believe, because they are quite funny. And I still really suck at the cow toss level.

As someone who is anxously awaiting the arrival of WiiFit due to the fact that Nintendo is developing actually games around the peripheral and other development companies have expressed interest in doing the same, I hate all these parody ads that clearly miss the point. Nintendo is very clearly trying to make gaming accessible to a wider audience who do not wish to spend all hours of the night getting carpal tunnel syndrome from smashing buttons on a tiny control to make little characters inside a TV fight each other. To think that they are doing this to encourage parents to lock their kids inside and not get actual exercise or spend time with friends is ridiculous. As many wise people have said before me: if the option for exercise is sitting on your ass and doing nothing or doing something as easy (allegedly, many people who went to E3 said WiiFit had progressive difficulty levels that actually gave a good workout) as balancing exercises with WiiFit to get some exercise, the choice is clear.

M, the Wii won't fuck up your hands. You use a remote to play games (so unless you get up to change the channel on the tv, you shouldn't have a problem), you can use it as a controller for some games, but you don't have to for a lot of them. I'm currently still addicted to the bowling, tennis and golf on Will Sports and and I play Wario almost daily.

Posted by: Lizzie at July 20, 2007 10:38 AM

Ummm, stardust? Were we seperated at birth? I can't even keep track of all the HK stuff I've got laying around. My family affectionately (or perhaps, mockingly) refers to my vehicle as "The Hello Kitty Car." I can only imagine how cool it would be to have that gadget in the trunk...

Posted by: pinkcheese at July 20, 2007 11:46 AM

HK is awesome. There's all kinds of Korean anime that's equally cute and crazy collectible. Not that I know anything about that. *hides*

THe WiiFit development is genius. I played Nintendo as a kid but "growed" up and out of them. When Nintendo used Brain Age to market the DSLite - I went out the next week and bought one. I wanted a game system that i could also use for more "productive" pursuits. While I LOVE the Wii commercials, it's the WiiFit that will propel me to buy one sooner rather than later.

And of COURSE I have more traditional games than "productive" ones. Nintendo is brilliant.

"And WiiFit goes well with anything from Ikea."
BWAHAHAHAH!!!!!!
I guess I am unclear on how standing on a pad vs. standing on the floor is exercise. But if it helps kids/grown-up-kids not be lazy, I am OK with it.

By the way, I didn't know you could eat Muppet!
