Pajiba Love

An interesting theory about Harry Potter’s Professor Mcgonagall. (Galley Slaves)

Shatner — get down with your bad self. (BWE)

And from Shatner to his heir — a reel of David Caruso’s greatest hits, if you will. (YBNBY)

Stop! Condom thiefs! (QuizLaw)

This is why I like these guys so much — because I’m hoping they never turn on us. (Junkiness)

Gay-gate on “Grey’s Anatomy,” appears to be winding down now — the homophobe has allegedly been shitcanned. (ASL)

I guess there was some scuffle on “The View,” this week between the mean one and the dumb one. (Yeeeah!)

Maybe the best ad I’ve ever seen. (Agent Bedhead)

Thirteen fictional lesbian and bi characters in literature — for summer beach reading. (After Ellen)

Finally, this will be my last Pajiba Love until the fall (I’ll still be reviewing) — starting next week, I’ll be handing over the PL responsibilities to Stacey Nosek (Litelysalted) for the summer while I prepare for impending fatherhood and tend to a project. Be good to her. And I’ll leave you with this, after the jump.

Please be kind, dear Pajibans... The whole of my existence thrives on your approval!

Btw, which one is the mean one and which one is the dumb one? I even wrote that piece and I'm not entirely sure.

Great. An entire summer of Pajiba Loves making fun of blind people. Can't wait, LS.

Posted by: TK at May 24, 2007 4:55 PM

Welcome Litelysalted(did I get it right?), good luck, I trust you will keep us happy and wellinformed. Best wishes, Muffin

Looking forwards to the updates LS. I recognise you as a regular commenter so that has to be a good thing, right?

(incidentally my affections are easily bought)

Ohhhh, this is gonna be fun!! A whole summer of LS on Pajiba?? My profanity cup runneth over!

Posted by: Manny at May 24, 2007 5:49 PM

How exciting. Yay for babies!

Posted by: Bianca Reagan at May 24, 2007 5:51 PM

SO THAT's where all the "Tom Cruise must be gay" rumors come from! Thanks, Dustin!

Posted by: Kolby at May 24, 2007 7:36 PM

Do you know that I have never watched Top Gun? Mostly because that little troll makes me ill. Now having watched those clips I feel the urge to watch some gay porn.

Posted by: greer at May 24, 2007 8:01 PM

First, good luck, LS!

Second, it t'would appear that WB's already pulled the Sarah Connor trailer from YouTube's august ranks. For some reason, now I want to see it more than ever.

Posted by: Matt P. at May 24, 2007 9:24 PM

As if Pajiba weren't already addictive, the addition of LS will have me jittering like a crack-whore in need of a fix while waiting for my daily dose of Pajiba Love.

Posted by: Spender at May 24, 2007 10:47 PM

LS, you'll do a smashing job. And wow, I just read your latest blog entry. I had some bad roommates in college as well, one of them in fact was a crackhead. I'd take her over yours any day.

Good luck with the project and the whole fatherhood bit, Dustin. Looking forward to seeing you back here in the fall.

Posted by: stardust savant at May 25, 2007 12:38 AM

greer - you... you've never seen Top Gun?

Oh my God. It's like meeting an alien or something. You MUST see it. It's the greatest and funniest two hours of non-stop, sweaty, seizure-inducing bit of homoeroticism ever committed to celluloid. Seriously. It's awesome.

Posted by: TK at May 25, 2007 9:16 AM

Huzzah, litelysalted. I expect much pointing and laughing.

(Not at me, you buzzards!)

Posted by: Ranylt at May 25, 2007 9:28 AM

Your comments burn me TK, I've never watched Top Gun either. I never thought I'd feel bad for admitting I haven't watched a movie made by Tom Cruise.

Posted by: Alex the Odd at May 25, 2007 10:16 AM

You guys are awesome. I feel like the belle of the fucking ball! (I had to throw a profanity in there for Manny.)

Mmm.... "sweaty homoeroticism." Does Mrs. TK know about this?

Posted by: litelysalted at May 25, 2007 10:30 AM

LS - I forced Mrs. TK to watch it recently (I own it... I know, ok? I KNOW). Between the emotional scene where they're all wearing towels, and the volleyball scene, she laughed herself to tears.

Seriously, watch it again. It's the sweatiest movie you've ever seen.

Alex the Odd - I meant no offense, but you owe it to yourself to see it, sheerly for comedic value.

Ms. Salted, I look forward to many fine swears. See if you can make up some new ones.

Congratulations to the new dad. Prepare for a world of fear. No, seriously. Don't worry, you get used to it.

Now about the content of this Love:
*The Harry Potter theory is mildly interesting, but it's more full of holes than even the author is willing to acknowledge.
*I always thought David Caruso was doing a Shatner impression. Now I wonder if he's even aware that he's doing it.
*Even though I already hated the entire cast of The View, Rosie O'Donnell is the one who made me swear off even pausing to check it out during my channel surfing. The woman just works my Last. Damn. Nerve.
*You know, now I'm wondering if I should dust off my ancient Top Gun VHS cassette and see just how gay that movie really is. At the very least, I can try to spot the scenes where Tom Cruise is standing on a stool so he won't look so much shorter than that chick Charlie (oh yeah, it's true, just watch the final scene, and notice how he doesn't lean in for the hug because he doesn't want to fall off his big-boy step).

Posted by: A Marine's Wife at May 25, 2007 1:31 PM

"big-boy step" -- mah-hahahahahah!

Am I the only one DYING for some new Pajiba content today? One assumes we're getting reviews of Pirates, Bug, and Golden Door -- right?

Mmmmm, Charlotte Gainsbourg ... I'd like to breathe some of that "Jane Eyre." (Pathetic)

Yippee Kay-yeah, Mother-effer! LS, please don't sell us moldy cheese.

Posted by: slouchmonkey at May 25, 2007 2:34 PM

That was

Pauses while putting on sunglasses

Amazing

Seriously, they must have to do thiose shots 50 times or with each actor in separate takes because there is no way anyone can keep a striaght face while David is getting his Shatner on.

Posted by: Brian at May 25, 2007 3:34 PM

Congratulations Ms. (Mrs? HRH?) Salted

Posted by: Brian at May 25, 2007 3:46 PM

Welcome, litelysalted! I read your roommate entry, and while I pity you, I understand your pain. I've had 4 college roommates, all of whom were special in their own ways: a religious slob, a racist slut, a sorority snob, and a hick who never flushed the toilet and had her first lesbian experience in our bathroom. Even now, I shudder to think of them.

Good luck into your foray into fatherhood, Dustin!

Posted by: Brie at May 25, 2007 4:19 PM

Oh God, Brie - did she flush first?? Eww!!

Posted by: pinkcheese at May 25, 2007 5:57 PM

Welcome Litely! Happy to see some, erm, pajiba on the Pajiba. (I know, sorry!)

Speaking of pajiba-on-Pajiba and man-on-man, my sister and cousins and I used to watch Top Gun over and over and over. (And not even on VHS, but on Laserdisc! my god but I'm old!) Anyway, shames me to admit, but we girls loved loved loved Maverick and Iceman and all of them, while the boy cousin used to cringe and roll his eyes. We were once caught by my aunt rewinding the towel scene over and over. And now Boy Cousin's gay, and I have a pretty good size boy-on-boy fetish. Coincidence? You decide!

Posted by: isabelle at May 26, 2007 1:16 AM

Am I the only one on here who always hated Top Gun? My best friend in high school LOVED Top Gun and made me watch it at least three times while sleeping over at her house. She thought Tom Cruise was, like. so. hot. and I've always thought he's an insane leprechaun. Except in Interview with the Vampire. My love of vampires trumped my dislike of Tom Cruise. Ahem. Anyway...my friend especially loved the scene with him and Kelly McGillis making out so I always had to keep my gag reflex in check.

Posted by: stardust savant at May 26, 2007 6:12 PM

Oh God...I had to watch Top Gun while babysitting a 9 year old boy and 6 year old girl. Totally not age-appropriate, what with all the cursing and the sex scene and them not being my kids (I was like 14). I actually stood in front of the tv during the sex scene, trying to figure out how to turn the tv off, and the kids were like "What's wrong? Our parents let us watch this kind of movie all the time!"

Posted by: Crinn at May 26, 2007 7:02 PM

See the thing about "Top Gun" is that Tom Cruise seems like such an unbearable tool in the small parts of it that I have seen. Same thing with "Risky Business". I have despised that undersized hobbit ever since I saw him slide across the floor in his underwear.

When all the other girls were drooling over Tom Cruise? I was hot for Michael J. Fox. Still am.

I am currently watching "Rain Man" - because I love Hoffmann.

I will watch "The Firm" because the cast is EXCELLENT.

And I will watch "Magnolia" and "Collateral Damage" because it's interesting to watch Bilbo displaying what I imagine is his real personality.

Posted by: greer at May 27, 2007 4:44 PM

whoo-hoo!
you go, litely... we're proud of you!

risky business did have some fun bits. but i've never been a cruise fan. i know i saw top gun, but i don't remember any of it. and somebody mentioned laser-disk?
i remember a time before cable. now, THAT'S old!!! LOL!
