Mostly Oscar Links, Yes

For some reason, everybody wore wedding dresses to the Oscars last night. I don’t know why, but I’m guessing it’s because Oscar fashion wouldn’t be totally effing boring unless everybody wore the same thing every year. Well done! (WIMB)

Although, Natalie Portman’s dress was my favorite of the Oscars. No joke. And it’s not just because half my wardrobe is made up of pink. (popoholic)

Ben Stiller’s Joaquin impersonation: Funny “ha ha” or funny “Ben Stiller still sucks and I want to punch him in the face?” (Yeeeah!)

Jack Nicholson was noticeably absent at this year’s Academy Awards. I’m pretty sure the reason is because there was only room for one crazy, washed-up actor and this year was Mickey Rourke’s time to shine. (Agent Bedhead)

Speaking of which, did anyone catch his acceptance speeach at the Independent Spirit Awards? It was amazing. And, I got a bit choked up when he mentioned his dog. R.I.P., Loki. (DListed)

The United States may be in some serious trouble with this recession and all, but thank goodness at least we don’t have magic goats to deal with. (QuizLaw)

“Biggest Real Life Drug Addict (Past or Current) in a Major Motion Picture” and other Academy Award categories we’d like to see. (Screen Junkies)

Fiber Frosted Chocolate Fudge Pop-Tarts? Wait, does that mean the Pop-Tarts are literally frosted with fiber? Yikes. (TIB)

Barbara Walters did an Oscar special this weekend. And, Hugh Jackman gave her a lap dance. Urp, vomit. (Evil Beet)

I’m sure none of you really care about this (I know I don’t) but the anorexic chick who was the other half of “The Simple Life” is pregnant again. (Celebslam)

Here’s another round of Truthful Celebrity Biography titles. (HolyTaco)

Gummy Bears cake! Gummy Bears cake! The show from the 80’s, not just the delicious candy oh my God oh my God! (Cake Wrecks)

Naive’s Guide takes on… “The Chronic!” (Naive’sGuideToEverything)

Whether or not you like this “Office” fan video, one thing you have to admit is that it’s pretty damn inspired:

That shit with Barbara Walters was proof she needs to retire. I'll give the woman her due and all, but her "interviews" were shite.

I've gotta get me a magic goat man.

One last Oscar Rant: I'm kinda pissed Frost/Nixon didn't get any love at the Oscars last night. I thought it was a pretty damn good movie that deserved more. Though, it'll make it easier for me to make this: http://tinyurl.com/FrostNixonII.

Admin,Kayanne, I need some advice. Who should we cast to play Kissinger?

Posted by: Mike R. at February 23, 2009 1:33 PM

Ben Stiller is not funny. He's the 21st-century Jerry Lewis.

Posted by: Eel O' Brien at February 23, 2009 1:34 PM

Mike R. I can't get the link so I'm making assumptions here. If we're going for gold, I would have to say an Enlish dude, who looks like an Indian dude, playing another Indian Dude, a douchebag with a political adgenda or Ben Stein.

Posted by: admin at February 23, 2009 2:00 PM

*English

Although we may get more mileage out of an Enlish dude, they are an ethnic minority after all.

Posted by: admin at February 23, 2009 2:06 PM

Here you go Admin, this one should work: http://tinyurl.com/FrostNixon2

Posted by: Mike R. at February 23, 2009 2:13 PM

Wow, I was way off! In that type of roll there can be only one answer, Jason Statham. Or Ben Stein.

Posted by: admin at February 23, 2009 2:41 PM

Sweet couple! just heard that the first dating between them was on some tall dating place http://tallmingle.com ,really?

Posted by: oliver at February 23, 2009 3:20 PM

Nice to see that the spambots now conversing with themselves.

Posted by: admin at February 23, 2009 3:25 PM

I just want to post to prove to myself that I can spell "the". Having troubles with that today in other posts...

Anyway: Eel O' Brien, I think I disagree about Stiller/Lewis comparison. Years after his schtick, people are still "doing" Jerry Lewis - see Professor Frink on the Simpsons to name the most obvious. Jon Stewart regularly channels him on The Daily Show.

Love him or hate him, Jerry Lewis's influence on modern comedy is irrefutable.

Years from now, I don't think anyone is going to be channelling Ben Stiller.

Mike R., I hope you imagined Billy West's Nixon Impression when you did that. The one that's more WolfMan than Republican Candidate.
And I don't know if you're familiar with Doctor Henry Killinger and his Magical Murder Bag.
You Should Be, it's awesome.

Posted by: Optimus Rhyme at February 23, 2009 3:43 PM

Optimus, though I enjoy Langella's performance, Billy West's NEVER leaves my head for a second when dealing with anything Nixon.

Posted by: Mike R. at February 23, 2009 3:50 PM

And watching Hugh Jackman give Barbara Walters a lap dance made ME want to transform into a goat..... A blind goat. With Leprosy of the eyes, so that my eyes would fall out, and I could eat them, then shit them out, and forget that I ever even had eyes in the first place.

Posted by: Odnon at February 23, 2009 3:51 PM

i thought it was alright, jackman certainly seemed at home, maybe a little too much. overall, besides sean penn, everybody saw everything coming.

ryan started the fire...

Wow, I was way off! In that type of roll there can be only one answer, Jason Statham. Or Ben Stein.

This reminded me of the perfect curse to put on Nicole Riche, her next child's biological father is Ben Stein. I really hate Nicole Riche.

Also, Stiller has made plenty of shitty movies, but this year, even though he made one of the worst movies (The Heartbreak Kid) he made the years best comedy (Tropic Thunder). In all honesty though, I'd rather watch Adam Sandler that Ben Stiller. He has a lower shitty movie ratio than Stiller.

Oh, sick burn.

...a douchebag with a political adgenda or Ben Stein.

Admin, I think you made a small english error. Perhaps it should have read or the douchebag with a political adgenda, Ben Stein?

Also, in honor of the Oscars, Stipe's awesome Buffy post and that this is the Pajiba love post and I love me some Stipe, I propose that the EE/Best Comments of the week post should be entirely comprised of a collection of the top ten Stipe42 comments of the week. Any seconds to the proposal out there?

Posted by: Sharopa at February 23, 2009 5:08 PM

Hey Stipe42, your mom posting on Pajiba now?

I kid because I love.

Posted by: Lainey at February 23, 2009 5:24 PM

Lainey, You're better than Nancy Drew:) How'd you figure it out? I thought my cover was perrrfect (once I decided not to comment as Stipe's Mom). But I'm glad you love him too!

Posted by: Sharopa at February 23, 2009 5:46 PM

In that type of roll there can be only one answer, Jason Statham.

Mmm, Statham sandwich...

Posted by: Sabrina at February 23, 2009 6:06 PM

Office has some awesome stuff involving fire.

That last episode with the fire drill?

BRILLIANT.

I kinda liked Stiller's thing, though it went on too long.

Posted by: figgy at February 23, 2009 6:31 PM

And hey, I have a sneaking suspicion that not all the Slumdog kids went back to their parents. Someone needed to check under Angelina's dress. I bet she took at least two.

Posted by: figgy at February 23, 2009 6:32 PM

Whoa, whoa, WHOA! Jack Nicholson is NOT washed up! The Departed was only TWO YEARS AGO!

Posted by: AudioSuede at February 23, 2009 8:41 PM

Hey, I'm an open minded girl from UK, I'm interested in exotic things, photography, dating and sports...
I have my photos on -- T a l l h u b.C o m --, I love tall guys!
Do you love traveling and have some experience? Just find me out.

Posted by: serena at February 24, 2009 8:36 AM

Linda, BOY do I have the guy for you! His name is Hal, and he's a very smart guy. He has a lot of traveling experience, practically to Jupiter and back. He's 9000 times the man any of those schmoes at tallhub.com would ever be, and he's quite the singer. (Though, I'm afraid he knows only one song.)

You say you're an open minded girl? He has moves that'll have you pulling your motherboards for mercy. Though don't ask him to "open the pod bay doors", I'm afraid he can't let you do that. (Some crazy fetish of his.)

Just let me know if you're interested, and I'll set you two up. He hasn't seen anyone since 2001, but I think he'd be the PERFECT date to ring in 2010 with.

Posted by: Mike R. at February 24, 2009 9:04 AM

Oops, I meant Serena, though I could have sworn the name was Linda this morning.
