Inauguratin’ It!

Pajiba Love / Stacey Nosek

Before I get into the usual links and lists and celebrity drivel, here are a few nice pieces summing up the fantastic atmosphere and mood today. (QuizLaw) & (ASWOBA) & (Deus Ex Malcontent)

Kate Winslet says she keeps getting her husband confused for Leonardo DiCaprio. Just like I keep getting Revolutionary Road confused for Titanic because it’s just another DiCaprio-Winset movie that I don’t ever plan on seeing. (WIMB)

Seriously? Bud Bundy is totally making his big comeback in a new web series “Star-Ving.” Amazing. We’ve truly entered an age where literally anything can happen. (Seriously?OMG!)

Apparently Tom Cruise will only speak to interviews who have seen and loved Valkyrie. Hear that, Dustin? You’re totally a shoe-in! (Celebitchy)

Because this is about to get a lot effing harder… Here are some ways to make fun of Obama. (Cracked)

Did you know that Julia Roberts really loves the paparazzi? She thinks they’re just super! Ohhh, just kidding, she totally fucking hates them. (The Blemish)

What single soundbite best sums up Bush’s presidency? (YBNBY)

More gratuitous Winston action, because he’s cute and we love him. (FourFour)

Just because, here is The Presidential Sweet; or, a bunch of Obama-inspired displays of cake artistry. (CakeWrecks)

But don’t just celebrate the inauguration with a bunch of cakes when there’s a whole bunch of tacky Obama crap out there that you can splurge on! (mental floss)

Happy Inauguration Day from The Film Experience! (FilmExperience)

Apropos of nothing, here is a horrible offensive post about Brooke Hogan rollerblading. But then, you know, it’s kind of OK because it is Brooke Hogan and all. Site NSFW. (DrunkenStepfather)

What in the eff is this monstrosity?! (TIB)

Here’s a helpful pie chart detailing what Phil Simm’s hair was made of this week. I wish I knew who Phil Simms was because it would probably make this totally funnier. (KSK)

I was not aware previously, but apparently the new “Electric Company” premiered on PBS yesterday, and it’s just like the old “Electric Company” except that it sucks and features bad rapping. (Jezebel)

Batman and the Joker do some heavy lifting in the following PSA. Thanks to Lauren!

That Batman and Joker video was awesome. I think I need more.

That Batman video was awesome. I really liked how they captured the sexual tension that was so pervasive in the the movie.

This is a good day. Despite my raging head cold, the back spasms and the four hours of sleep I got last night, today is a glorious fucking day.

Posted by: The_wakeful at January 20, 2009 1:09 PM

I caught the Star-ving episodes last week and thought they were actually pretty decent.

It's a lovely day filled with hope and joy. I don't care how corny I sound today.

Holy Bud Bundy week batman! Anyone else see the Robot Chicken "Where's Bud Bundy Now?" sketch Sunday night?

"I already have a starring role in: 'democracy'. The character name? 'patriotism'"

Hehe.

David Faustino's writing partner is Corin Nemec? Does that mean we're going to be seeing a revival of "Parker Lewis Can't Lose"? Because, I have to admit, I'd be cool with that.

Posted by: Melissa at January 20, 2009 1:25 PM

I haven't read any of the links (yet) (sorry)
but I just came upon a comment at YouTube (bastion of maturity that it is), and I guess it caught me a little off-guard, given all the goodwill feelings that have been the effect of the election outcome... I had kinda, naively, forgotten that there are people who aren't happy with Obama being elected... but has anyone seen the racist term that some are applying to today?

Posted by: Rykker at January 20, 2009 1:27 PM

I guess I should have posted in the open thread; my apologies.
I'm fairly neutral on the political front (though not really a fan of GW), but I admit to being somewhat caught-up in the good spirit that came about in the wake of the election, and I'm just a tad nonplussed about what I saw today.

Posted by: Rykker at January 20, 2009 1:33 PM

Corin Nemec is just a poor man's Michael Shanks.

Stargate watchers know what I'm talking about.

*hears nothing but crickets*

Nice, stipe42.

Posted by: Melissa at January 20, 2009 1:44 PM

*hears nothing but crickets*

That was my first thought: Who watches Stargate?

Posted by: Cindy at January 20, 2009 1:45 PM

Corin Nemec didn't even resurrect once. Michael Shanks came back so many times, Jesus Christ got jealous.

Posted by: JakesAlterEgo at January 20, 2009 1:47 PM

Don't worry about it Rykker. Ingnorance is bliss, and there are a lot of happy motherfuckers out there.

Posted by: admin at January 20, 2009 1:48 PM

My parents watch Stargate. That's not a burn, that's the truth. All of the spinoffs, too.

Posted by: Melissa at January 20, 2009 1:53 PM

The Jack in the Box "meal" looks like something out of "Stuff on my cat".

Posted by: Jay at January 20, 2009 1:54 PM

Michael Shanks came back so many times, Jesus Christ got jealous.

Forget Jesus, even Kenny was rolling his eyes by the last season.

There are only four Stargate plots, and three of them involve Daniel dying. In the other one O'Neil makes a bad joke, but the common man wisdom of the joke contains the solution to the problem.

We kid because we love.

I work at a hospital that comes with a VA hospital attached to it - and every day for the last eight years, I have taken the long way to my office so I didn't have to work past that smirking, soulless, clueless, brainless idiot's picture in the lobby. Tomorrow - I'm strolling head high through the main lobby.

Posted by: funtime42 at January 20, 2009 2:06 PM

I never got past "Parker Lewis on Stargate" during Nemec's time - unfair, because he was very good. I just think that Parker Lewis is awesome.

He could do worse than bringing Parker back.

Well, Lucas, since today is a magical day when anything can happen, there ARE more. Playtime, bike safety, sun protection, and everyone's favorite: herpes!!

Like, srsly, just who is Michael Shanks?
I kinda sorta watch Stargate: Atlantis only because that's what's on the air when I get to work at 4:15am on Sunday morning, and it only catches my attention because Rachel Luttrell, and Jewel "Kaylee" Staite are regular cast members.
I couldn't care less who any of the dudes are, though (but, I think I saw the holographic doctor from Star Trak: Voyager on there, before... Robert Picardo).

Michael Shanks is the Alpha Nerd. Looks like James Spader without the simmering sexuality, yet somehow married Lexa Doig who is about 9x too hot to be married to someone who looks like James Spader without the simmering sexuality and is most known for being on a show where people walk through a puddle and wind up on another planet.

What I mean to say is, he taps this: http://www.fridaythe13thfilms.com/saga/partx/lexa2.jpg

Michael Shanks is what I want to be when I grow up.

Posted by: JakesAlterEgo at January 20, 2009 6:20 PM

Funny thing: I saw a Stargate panel at ComicCon a couple years ago that had the entire cast up on the stage. Michael Shanks and the guy who played Teal'c basically talked for the entire time, continuously revisiting the question of whether they were really hung over or just still drunk from the night before. Their personalities are the polar opposites of their screen personas in Stargate. Michael Shanks (the proto-nerd) is brash, obnoxious and deliriously foul-mouthed. Guy who plays Teal'c (huge, muscled, bald grizzly bear of a man) is the absolute embodiment of drama club guys and a hair breadth from having an outright lisp. If acting means being absolutely believable as something you are not, those two guys deserve Oscars.

Is Kate Winslet still crying from the Golden Globes? Or was that because she realized her best role in a love story was opposite Jim "The Caboose on Eddie Murphy's Train To Loserville" Carrey?
