Pajiba Love

Tony Romo needs a hug. And I think you know what I mean by “hug.” Right? (Kissing Suzy Kolber)

Britney has an impending reality show. The premise: A relationship drama between her and Sharon Stone’s talking bashwingschwangs. It’s called “Cooterville.” (Celebitchy)

The straight man’s worst nightmare: Andrew Davies. (Bookslut)

We’re going to get in trouble for this, but this is why we don’t link to WWTDD: It’s the overt misogyny, people. Mock female celebrities: Awesome. Mock females in general: Uncool. (WWTDD)

Those damn dirty apes can go fuck themselves. (QuizLaw)

Dollars to donuts that Piven is the dick in the Cusack/Piven feud. (The Evil Beet)

Tickle this, Elmo. (Yes But No But Yes)

Box in a Box” or “Tits in a Box”? I think it’s obvious. (MollyGood)

Man, that Elmo thing really takes me back -- remember "Fun ... with Fireworks?" Out at the moooon? Dude, I've still got the tape; I should totally YouTube that shit.

Man -- that would be awesome! And so would you reviewing every Tim Allen, John Travolta, Uwe Boll, Paul Haggis, and Rob Schneider film for the rest of Pajiba's existence! -- not DR

I don't know, Dustin, about the Piven/Cusack feud. I've heard both of them are dicks, so it's anyone's guess.

John Cusack is jealous of Jeremy Piven? I imagine that has been the case for many moons because although Cusack has been a talented player since his teens, Piven is the hot stud I & many others would love to fuck. Cusack's always been just a wee bit too tall and tweedy and pasty-faced for my tastes, but Piven? Damn. He's going to be hot when he's in his 60's if he keeps in shape. Cusack will just fill the void left by Alan Alda.

Matt & Daphne -- you're dead to me. I've gone through Ryan Reynolds, Vince Vaughn, Mark Ruffalo, and even the briefest of flings with Paul Rudd in 1999. But, John Cusack will always be the original heterosexual man crush. Your comments cut to the quick. -- DR

But overt misogyny is one of the reasons I like WWTDD if you have to object to anything object to subtle misogyny.

Touche, Joe. The best celebrity blog sites mock the material that they cover, on content and in context. Like shooting fish in a barrel.

WWTDD is nothing but recycled jokes from better comedians written by a hack on steroids. He's as gay as Perez Hilton. The misogyny isn't a joke either.

I would have had trouble believing Piven was a dick until I listened to the commentary from PCU. He just couldn't get past the fact that he wasn't allowed to improve. I can understand his being upset, and I think it probably bore mentioning for posterity, but he devoted almost the entirety of his commentary to it. I would have loved to hear about his technique and the process of making the movie, or failing that just some fun things that happened, but no dice. Came off very self-centered even as he ran on about other people's unwillingness to "collaborate."

Dustin, you wound me! Don't shoot the messenger! I was just going on what I heard about both of them - I didn't realize the man crush you had on JC. Sorry about that.

Quite all right, Daphne. I can't expect everyone to understand the fragile nature of a heterosexual man crush. -- DR

I'm here for them if Piven and Cusack need to hug it out. And if Ryan Reynolds and Paul Rudd want to join the fun, that'd be fine, too. Yowzers! :)

I grew up near Evanston (home of Cusack and Piven) and I knew people who went to high school with both of them...and no one really had anything bad to say about either of them. Just standard "yeah, that guy was a geek" comments. Granted, that was years ago, but meh...the worst story I heard about either of them was on the Piven side, which involved him coming to his parents' drama school to do some workshops, and being on the "decidedly creepy" side, according to my friend.

I could be biased, though...since Cusack will always be Lloyd to me. Let's just never speak of "Must Love Dogs" ever again. Ever.

What's sad though is that as much as Brendon over at WWTDD can occasionally be a real misogynist masquerading as a self-deprecating joker, he's actually dead-on about this. The View was supposed to be a show that heightened the discourse among women -- proving that smart women from completely different backgrounds could get together and intelligently discuss all kinds of topics. Barbara Walters was involved for Christ's sake, and say what you will, she's long been considered one of the brightest and most respected names in journalism. But what did the show degenerate into? Petty squabbling, on and off-air catfights, feuds over silly, stupid crap, and ego-driven name-calling -- exactly the kind of badly stereotypical "female" behavior the show was supposed to dispel.

Although Cusack was my first man-crush and will always have a place in my heart, after "Must Love Dogs" he is dead to me.

Am I the only lady who never saw the appeal with Piven? I'll give y'all cute, but gorgeous? Hot? Please. He strikes me as the kind of dude who looked 45 at the age of 12.

I'm not usually this catty, but methinks Piven *himself* finds Piven hot.

Posted by: Samantha T at January 10, 2007 1:18 PM

Samantha T-on this we agree.
Piven is smarmy.

Um, wow. I've never gone to WWTDD until now and it honestly made me sick. Not so much the blogger's post, because I can convince myself he was trying to be funny, but some of the things the commenters said were totally revolting. I can see why you don't endorse that site. Ugh, I need some coffee.
