Today is National Tin Foil Hat Day! But not really because I just made it up. Finally, after all these years, we can put away these crazy JFK conspiracy theories and move on. Yes? Nope. Some of the files are going to be held back. It’s not like these agencies had TWENTY FIVE YEARS to get this ready. (NBC News) (The new files for your perusal are at the National Archives site.)

The Name of the Wind is one of my favorite books of all time. I have read it more than any other book. I listen to the audiobook constantly. I’ve met Patrick Rothfuss five times (and his dad once, RIP). I baked him cookies. He’s hugged me twice. It was nice. So I am more than ready for this. Can we start dream-casting? I want Lin-Manuel Miranda as Elodin. (Deadline)

You know how Trump set up a Voter Fraud Commission to investigate the “millions” of “illegal votes” in the election that caused him to lose the Popular Vote? Funny story. His commission is now under investigation by the Government Accountability Office. Who’s watching the watchmen now, huh buddy? (The Hill)

Ex Boyfriend in the first letter of this advice section is a nightmare person. (Dear Prudence)

The House passed the budget bill, so we’re getting closer to those disgusting tax cuts. (NYTimes)

Trump finally declared the opioid crisis a public health emergency and said he’d fight it with…an advertising campaign. So basically like Just Say No but for adults? (WaPo)

In the Too Little Too Late category, we have Twitter banning Russia Today and Sputnik from advertising on its platform. (Tech Crunch)

Jon Snow learned something! (EW)

Fox News has seen a 17% decline in ad revenue during Sean Hannity’s new 9pm time slot. When you come at the Queen Rachel Maddow, you best not miss. (PoliticusUSA)

Do you want to listen to Ivanka and Jared’s sexytimes playlist? It’s only 21 minutes so it won’t take too long. HEY-YO. (Dlisted)

Apparently, Trump got The Sads because he’s asking his supporters to send him Thank You cards for the hard, hard work he’s doing. (IR)

Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal clapped back at Darrell Issa for mansplaining. (The Cut)

Have you ever heard that eating carrots leads to improved eye sight? This is how that story became popular. (Atlas Obscura)

Anna Wintour appeared on James Corden’s show yesterday sans sunglasses. How shocking! (Lainey Gossip)

The H&M + Erdem collaboration is launching soon and they hired Baz Luhrmann to shoot a video of the collection. Perfect partnership is perfect. (Refinery29)

Velvet is very in at the moment, which I appreciate. But none of these is a full-length velvet wizard’s robe, so I’ll be keeping my monies for now. (GFY)

Oooff, Anna Faris continues to…unimpress. (Celebitchy)

Most people are probably more familiar with the 1956 movie Giant (Rock Hudson, Elizabeth Taylor, James Dean) than with the 1952 novel by Edna Ferber on which it is based. Cannonballer lgesin suggests you might want to change that. This summer she challenged herself to read more mid-century American literature and thoroughly enjoyed Ferber’s novels, Giant, Cimarron, So Big and Showboat. Ferber liked to put strong feminist women into conservative settings and see what happened. Are you familiar with Edna Ferber? (Cannonball Read 9)

Happy Birthday, Hillary Clinton.
