If you're into parasites, look up mucocutaneous leishmaniasis images. I still think it's hard to beat as the most terrifying-looking. The site won't let me post a link, unfortunately, but...yikes. It's the one that officially sent me down the infectious disease career path.

I went to the same summer camp as Chris and his brothers for three years (77-79) and worked there with him at the camp in 1980. I went on four long and truly cool camping trips with him including hiking the length of Isle Royale in Lake Superior, and canoeing the boundary waters region of Canada. He was an amazingly talented swimmer and water-skier and one of the most naturally funny and nice guys you could ever hope to meet. I stayed loosely in touch with him until I joined the Army and he went to SNL. Stardom destroyed him and all he ever wanted, was to make everybody laugh.
