Start your week out with the Britney-Fed sex/chess tape. I know! I know! It does sound awesome -- if by awesome, you mean totally retch-worthy. (IDLYITW) & (Yeeeah!) & (Celebitchy)
It's probably been 10 years since I gave a shit about a music video -- but, this posthumous Johnny Cash video kind of kicks ass. (Popoholic)
Sorry, Blemish -- I thought The Simpsons trailer looked pretty amusing. (The Blemish)
I haven't heard a Folgers Crystals joke in, like, 15 years. Still funny. (CityRag)
It only feeds the douchebag monster's narcissism, but fuck it. It's amusing. (BWE)
We've got a troll. In the Harsh Times comment thread. His name is Joe, though he's gone by Wynn and Bixby in the past. He's mostly uninspiring -- we've been insulted by much, much better (Joe reminds me of the guy who accused movie critics of being picked last in gym class). But the comments -- even the other negative ones -- that he has elicited so far are freakin' hilarious. And this is why I adore writing for this site. Now, if I could just get "Mustang Sally" to knit the entire staff a lemming toupee ...
Comments
Joe's comments are pretty ridiculous. I like reading scathing reviews and consider myself a bitchy person. Generally, the quality of writing for this site is quite good. I recommend this site to friends when the opportunity arises. That said, I can see Joe's point about the insularity of the community here.
I criticized the merit of Borat and was called a "pseudo-intellectual asshole" and a "riot at Skull-and-Bones mixers." In 113 comments so far, Borat has generated roughly 100 comments of the "i almost puked i was laughing so hard" variety and about 5 of the "this movie was inane" variety.
Clearly, the readership shares a great many characteristics. The homogeneity of views expressed in those comments is too high to believe otherwise. While there's no solution to this, and I don't criticize the site or its readers for this situation, it's worth noting.
I think it is a poor idea by the administrators of the site to ridicule dissenters. Also, I think it sullies the reviewers to get entangled in petty arguments. Jeremy, Dustin, and Daniel might do better to proclaim their views and then let the rest of us argue them.
Publisher's Note: Point taken, George. But, we welcome dissenters -- in fact, our comments are littered with dissent. Other than to suggest that we've been insulted by better, I only mention Joe to highlight the brilliance that he has inspired in the Harsh Times comment thread. For sheer originality, it really is the best we've had since Wicker Man thread. And for that, I appreciate Joe's contributions.

there's a Wicker Man thread? Cool, I'm going to find it and get some more laughs. That movie was awful by the way.
