North Korea Clearly Did Not Enjoy The Elton John Gift

The luster of Donald Trump’s “Nixon in China” moment with North Korea seems to be wearing off. While he’s still dealing with a neverending stream of Nixon everywhere else moments with his presidency, not to mention the various sexual accusations and shady deals that have been swept under the rug thanks to Melania’s jacket or “Trump said something racist” — That zebra hasn’t changed its stripes, and it has been fraternizing with fucking Nazis — our fearless leader did seem to have a genuine win with North Korea.

Then reports started to come out with satellite images claiming North Korea was not stopping their nuclear testing, pushing to improve it instead. This was followed by another strange, fluffy, sticky piece of news referencing the meeting between Trump and North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un. It also happened to introduce Elton John to the mix according to The Hill:

“The ‘Rocket Man’ CD was the subject of discussion during Trump’s lunch with Kim. Kim mentioned that Trump referred to him as ‘rocket man’ when tensions ran high last year,” a source told the South Korean news outlet. “Trump then asked Kim if he knew the song and Kim said ‘no.’ ”

The “Rocket Man” CD in question reportedly references a gift for Kim Jong-un that was set to be delivered by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo during this weekend’s meeting. South Korean media reported that Trump gifted a recording of the Elton John classic to the dictator, but Secretary Pompeo would not confirm the report when pressed by NBC News. Can’t really blame him there. It’s a little weird to deliver “Rocket Man” to the guy, no matter what silly name the president gave him. I can think of at least four albums that I’d gift to the man before Elton John. Some Molly Hatchet, maybe Kiss Alive. Stuff that’s really going to send the message that, “we’re hip.”

Instead, Pompeo, Trump, and the rest of the gang that couldn’t shoot straight are still trying to pretend they are in a Scorsese movie. Following their latest meeting on Saturday, Pompeo insisted progress had been made on all the central issues. North Korea felt differently according to Reuters:

Hours later, Pyongyang gave a much more negative assessment, saying Washington had broken the spirit of last month’s summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. “The U.S. side came up only with its unilateral and gangster-like demand for denuclearization,” a North Korean foreign ministry spokesman said in a statement carried by the official KCNA news agency…

“The high-level talks this time brought us in a dangerous situation where we may be shaken in our unshakable will for denuclearization, rather than consolidating trust between the DPRK and the U.S.”

Is this at the top of the list for Trump and team to focus on? Publicly, that would be a fat fucking no. Instead, the president has spent his Saturday talking about the media and the “Witch Hunt.”

Should we be surprised by any of this? North Korea has always done the same for years and seems dedicated to maintaining that while maintaining a smiling face to the rest of the world. The criticism that the United States just legitimized a dictator does carry some weight, mainly when they seem to be falling off track just a few weeks after “making dem dealz, son.” Not only that, but we shouldn’t be surprised that the Trump administration is attempting to be tough in negotiations while still sending stupid gifts.

Dark Side Of The Moon is just sitting there waiting to transport Kim and Trump ignores it!
