Jessica Jones' Cryptic Tweet Teases Luke Cage's Next Appearance

Let’s get real. Mike Colter’s Luke Cage had us from the second he was cast, and all watching Netflix’s Jessica Jones did was make us want to see more Luke (*wink*). The first photos gave a peek at Cage’s own upcoming series, which features the glorious Alfre Woodard, Simone Missick, Mahershala Ali, Frankie Faison, Frank Whaley, Theo Rossi and Sônia Braga; it’s one of our most anticipated Netflix series premiering this year.

It’s positively cruel for Jessica to tease us so…

No, not that way, you sillies! Ahem. I mean taunting us with a cryptic tweet like this:

That top file reads: “Luke Cage” and “November.” Is that *her* (well, whichever Skynetbot runs her Twitter account) way of telling us Luke Cage will hit Netflix in November, or is Jones heralding her own series’ return, with a nice slice of Luke on the side? Either way is fine with me, though I rather prefer Cage as the main dish. (Pardon my hunger, please, I’ve not yet breakfasted.)

And what of the second file? It reads “HO PE MISSING,” with that interesting space between ho and pe. That’s no mistake. Presumably it’s a reference to ***Spoiler for Jessica Jones Season 1, skip over if you haven’t finished the series*** Erin Moriarty’s Hope Shlottman, who committed suicide, ***End Spoilers***. Is the folder there as a reminder of past cases, or will Hope’s storyline have lingering effects?

Finally, why the purple tint? ***Spoiler for Jessica Jones Season 1 *** Didn’t Jessica off Kilgrave? Does a neck snap not necessarily mean he’s dead? ***End Spoiler According to Tennant, he only intended to do one season, so theoretically, we shouldn’t expect to see Kilgrave again (but you know how these things go).

I’m choosing to believe the tweet is announcing Luke Cage’s November premiere, because that timeline is generally in keeping with Netflix’s promise to air a “new Marvel superhero series every six months.” With Daredevil’s second season set to hit the streaming service March 18th, November’s next newbie would only be a little bit late. As they say, we’re willing to wait for a good, good thing superhero.
