Robert Rodriguez Directs Kat Dennings and Puppies

This isn’t really about any particular movie. It’s a music video for Bob Schneider’s “40 Dogs (Like Romeo and Juliet).” Schneider’s an Austin-based musician who has a new album dropping soon, called Lovely Creatures, which is an apt description of the video. It’s directed by fellow Austin resident, From Dusk Til Dawn director and Predators producer Robert Rodriguez. It features Kat Dennings (Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, The 40 Year Old Virgin, Thor), an adorable small child, and puppies.

No, this is not a Human Centipede trick post.

Kat Dennings and puppies. That really should be all I had to say. The song’s not bad either. Not really my thing, but still, not bad.

I've actually been to a Bob Schneider concert in the Austin area. However, when I don't know any of the songs of a concert I'm at I tend to get hammered drunk and not pay attention. He sounds pretty good, I guess I should have laid off the booze.

I'm not sure how I feel about Kat Dennings. I liked her in >i>40 Year Old Virgin, haven't seen Nick and Norah's but thought she was terrible in Defendor.

Sweater-puppies?

Kat Dennings is just a low-rent version of that Lauren Whatsherface from Six Feet Under. All 'tude and no substance.

They both annoy the hell out of me.

Bob Schneider is awesome. While this is a nice song, it's not wholly representative of Bob's talents. I can't recommend him enough.

So all I need to do is make a music video and Kat Dennings will pretend to be my girlfriend?
I've got work to do.
Now what rhymes with Juliet? Oubliette? Yes. Half way there.

Good Afternoon, Mister TK:

All I need to know is this - at any point during the video, does Kat Dennings remove her top and just kind of... like, sway in place? I'm only asking because you used the word "puppies" in the header of this article and "sweater puppies" happens to be a relatively popular slang term for breasts.

In advance, I appreciate your willingness in answering this question, as it directly relates to whether or not I will put on my fanny pack before I watch this video. Not the fanny pack I bought in Nashville with the guitar pick zipper pull, but the one with the mink-lined secret pocket in the back.

Thanks in advance for your prompt reply,
Skittimus Maximus Esquire, III

when did the word "released" get replaced by the word "drop" when it comes to albums. It started as a rap thing and now everyone is dropping albums. Does Iron Man 2 drop on Friday? NO. It is released.
And yes i am being an ass about this.

Skitz: No, she does not, but let's not pretend like that's going to change your course of action.

td: Yeah, you kind of are. 'sokay though.

Does this not sound and look like a crappy Iphone commercial for the first two minutes?

PUPPIES AND PWAPPEES TOGETHER!!!

Posted by: ChristianH at May 5, 2010 1:34 PM

Really not my kind of music, shits me. Also, the movie Square burned my mind with traumatic mental pictures of dogs swimming and suddenly getting eaten by sharks (fuck Australia seriously) so that's ruined for me, but I'd watch anything with Kat Jennings in it, clothed or naked, preferably the latter.

I like this song and I like Kat Dennings.
"Make a close shave into a whoo-hoo!"

mike f, that is exactly what I was thinking. I have an iPhone and it can't do ANY of those things. DON'T BE FOOLED

This is the only Bob Schneider song I like. I am not hip.

Austinites should check out his print works at Flatbed Press - I like that his artistic talents extend beyond music.

Haven't paid much attention to her acting career, but I did see an advanced screening of Nick and Norah where Michael Cera and her took questions. She was really cool, and so was Michael.

td: And those damn kids won't get off my lawn these days either! Goddamn time! Fuck you, Time!

But in all seriousness, it is a dumb and annoying trend in our speech. Stupid people re-purposing perfectly useful words to avoid saying things the normal way.

Bob's 'Lovely Creatures' cd came out in September, 2009 so it's been out for awhile now.
