  • Wow, people wrote some damn long treatises on the Airbender review.

    Wha--summer's over already?!

The Reprehensible Sexualization of Rape | I Spit On Your Grave Poster

Google searches had to be responsible for that one :)

I also have to say that I'm astounded at how some people still don't understand what was so wrong with the I Spit On Your Grave Poster. After the article, and all the comments, you still don't get it? Are you blind, stubborn, or just fucking stupid?

This list is lacking in the breakout star of the summer: The Human Centipede.

No, I'm not done beating this dead horse. There's till marrow in those bones.

figgy, I defended the original film (as I always will, as I think there are good reasons to discuss the film and the controversy surrounding it) in that thread and said nothing about the poster. The poster for the remake gives me no confidence in the film. It's...wrong. So wrong. I'm a diehard horror fan with a soft spot for revenge films and even I can tell that's not a good thing. That's how they want to market a remake of a film hinging on a horrific rape? It explains a lot about what gets play in American horror and why anything with half a brain in a foreign language gets dumb-downed and gored up in the remake.

I love delving into the old posts, and seeing the batshit insanity that pops up from the shadow realm they reside in known as "off the front page".

Seriously, that last "anonymous" on the Airbender review must have been reading something completely different while commenting. He thought that people wanted the kids to be black. Yep, that's right.

As far as the I Spit On Your Grave Poster comments, I gotta commend the poster who goes from joking about beating off to the poster, to accusing Dustin of being a closet rapist. The total lack of self-awareness is stunning.

For all of you nutballs who posted those wonderfully inane comments so after the fact, I thank you. You liven up my day with the immense mounds of absolutely brain-dead stupidity you submit to this site.

    Thank you so very much.

Verm, that one was particularly, well, to use a cliche, it was just a big WTF.

Robert: it's really a horrible poster, in so many ways. I've never seen the movie, never want to, and it seems like the remake is completely unnecessary. But focusing just on the poster...yeah, it's just wrong.
