Still Making the News, 132 Years Post-Mortem

By Genevieve Burgess | Miscellaneous | February 10, 2014 | Comments ()

2014 Olympic Winter Games on NBC at 8:00pm ET. Tonight’s events are women’s super-combined Alpine Skiing, and men’s 500m and 1500m speed skating. The results and any other noteworthy outcomes will, of course, be available online hours earlier.

Hart of Dixie on The CW at 8:00pm ET. Third season winter finale.

Almost Human on Fox at 8:00pm ET.

Questioning Darwin on HBO at 9:00pm ET. This is a documentary exploring both Darwin’s difficulty with his own theories and his faith, and modern objections to evolution. You can read more about it here

Independent Lens: Spies of Mississippi on PBS at 10:00pm ET. This is a documentary about the efforts by the state of the Mississippi State Sovereignty Commission to infiltrate the Civil Rights movement, and their role in events like the assassination of Medgar Evers and the KKK murders of three civil rights workers in 1964. You can read more about it here and it looks very interesting.

Genevieve Burgess thinks it will be a lean couple of weeks, TV wise, if you don’t like documentaries or have premium channels.

    Anything that tries to put

Ken Ham, CEO of the Creationist Museum in Petersburg KY
Dr David Menton of the Answers in Genesis Ministry
Joel Martin of Biblical Discipleship Ministries

on a level playing field with Darwin is not worthy of my time. The home schooling mother I will give a pass.

No mention of the Westminster Dog Show? Tonight on CNBC and tomorrow on USA from 8pm to 11pm! Doggies of all sorts!

    OH GOD thank you!

  • BlackRabbit

Oh geez, I forgot about that! Thanks!

He who does not cater to certain demographics will inherit the wind (wind=ratings & money). And I find it privately amusing that his beard would fit right in on Duck Dynasty.

I'm using the next two weeks to catch up on podcasts and re watch Hannibal. Spies of Mississippi looks great!

  • Dave Dorris

Modern objections to evolution are not modern. Just repackaged.

  • e jerry powell

    Well put.

  • lowercase_ryan

And yet we as a society keep giving them a platform on which they can make those objections look legitimate. Like specials on HBO.

  • Mark Maloney

I dunno, the objections don't look so "off" compared to the huge jumps in logic that are required to connect the dots for evolution as it is taught and apparently not questioned these days :-) Let the flaming begin I guess.

  • Dave Dorris

Which huge jumps of logic are you referring to? Because the biggest logical leap in the known universe is, "I don't know all the details, therefore God did it."
