Who's Ready for Misery Night?

By Genevieve Burgess | Posted Under Miscellaneous | Comments (15)

There’s just something frustrating about having to work on a day that’s supposed to be a holiday even if your job is new enough that you’re still genuinely excited just to have a job. Especially if you have to leave for that job immediately after wrestling with your gallon of milk while trying to make your cheerios because the damn Publix didn’t have any half gallon containers of whole milk in stock so you had to buy the full gallon. (And the first person to give me shit for drinking whole milk gets an internet slap to the face. I’m a 24 year old grad student, whole milk is probably one of the least unhealthy things I ingest on a regular basis. And cheerios lower cholesterol anyway, so it all balances out.) So yeah, I’m working today and while that’s wonderful in a “I’m getting paid” sense it’s not so wonderful in a “a whole bunch of other people have off” sense. Here’s your Monday night TV:

8:00pm: “Bachelor Pad” on ABC

“Little People, Big World” on TLC. Sixth season premiere.

“The Secret Life of the American Teenager” on ABC Family. Third season summer finale.

8:30pm: “CBS Special: CBS Fall Preview” on CBS. So, this is basically one extra long commercial for their new fall shows? That’s pretty lame. You know what’s lamer? That CBS still employs Charlie Sheen.

“Little People, Big World” on TLC

9:00pm: “American Pickers” on History

“Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations” on Travel. Again, Mr.Bourdain is not going anywhere this week, it’s a clip show entitled “What Were We Thinking Special” if you’d like to waste your time on that.

“The Best Thing I Ever Ate” on Food Network

“The Closer” on TNT

“History Detectives: Chicago Clock, Universal Friends, War Dog Letter” on PBS. Eighth season finale.

“Hoarders” on A&E. Third season premiere. They’ve been teasing this one for a while, with a scene where a live possum is totally just hanging out in these peoples’ filthy filthy house. Not for the weak of heart, is what I’m saying, if you’ve never seen the show before this might not be the episode to jump in on unless you feel like staying up until 3am scrubbing your entire house. Actually, I’m not sure if it’s this episode or the one right after it but steer clear of both just to be safe.

“Kate Plus 8” on TLC

“Money Hungry” on VH1

“The Real Housewives of new Jersey” on Bravo. Second half of a reunion special. I predict lots of yelling.

“Top Gear” on BBCA. Guest is Roger Daltrey.

“WWE: RAW” on USA

10:00pm: “Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations” on Travel. This time Mr.Bourdain goes to Paris to celebrate their 100th episode.

“Dateline NBC” on NBC

“Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” on Food Network

“Hoarders” on A&E

“Keeping Up with the Kardashians” on E!

“Mystery Diagnosis” on Health

“Pawn Star$” on History

“Make No Little Plans: Daniel Burnham and the American City” on PBS

“Quints by Surprise” on TLC

“Rizzoli and Isles” on TNT

“Shatner’s Aftermath” on Bio. First season finale.

“100 Greatest Artists of All Time” on VH1. I don’t trust VH1 to be the authority on that topic.

“Whale Wars” on Animal Planet.

“Dating in the Dark” on ABC

Late Night Listings

“The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” on CBS featuring John Larroquette and Malin Ackerman

“Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” on NBC featuring Michael Cera, Landon Donovan, JP, Chrissie and The Fairground Boys

MISERY NIGHT! Hell yeah. The two new episodes tonight look....oh hell, here:

They look full-on nasty. BY WHICH I MEAN AWESOME.

And I love the commercials for nothing but cleaning products during the shows. Hey, Swiffer Wet Jet!

Right now, Little Snuggie is making me watch my first episode of Jersey Shore and I want to personally choke the life out of every single idiot on it.

Boise State has the most bluest blue uniforms that ever blue. I cannot concentrate on the game.

I've been watching part of the Hoarders marathon whilst rocking back and forth in a semi fetal position with my thumb in my mouth. I don't know if I'm strong enough to watch the possum episode. Possums freak me the fuck out, man.

It's working. My house is already clean, but I want to clean it HARDER.

Posted by: Snuggiepants at September 6, 2010 9:38 PM

Ok, fuck the possum. I ain't scared of no possum.

They've been showing commercials for Hoarders where they pick up something and there are bugs of some kind I can't identify from a glimpse swarming all over it. Swarming bugs freak me into the stratosphere. I've already had a couple of nightmares just from seeing the commercial.

I love some Hoarders but I just can't watch that shit. My sanity hangs by a thread on a good day.

Rusty. I feel your pain.

I'm a year 4.5 college student graduating in December, and I had classes today. thankfully they were my easy classes: Ceramics and Cooking class.

However I am watching Avatar on Blu-Ray right now, so it's all good. Wednesday we get off, because it's part of our "serve the community" statement about our college, so no classes, just working all day with various organizations, which in the Portland-McMinnville area of Oregon are a lot.

I totally drink whole milk, too. Go big or go home.

My dad used to have two afghan hounds, and one day they brought a live possum into the house. The possum was actually pretty blase about it all, but my dad had the brilliant idea to try to scoop the possum up with the pool net, which had a surprisingly unwieldy 15-foot handle. He did way more damage trying to catch the possum than the possum probably would have done had he just left it alone. And the dogs were absolutely no help, either. As usual.
