Look Out, Tim, It's Right Behind You!

It’s been one of those weeks where I just feel like I can’t wake all the way up and have been stumbling from activity to activity trying to maintain the interest necessary to be engaged in what I’m doing. This level of disconnect with most of the world around me is probably why it’s only now hitting me that today is the last day of September and I really wasn’t prepared for that. I mean, Halloween is only a month away now, I actually have to start working on plans for Thanksgiving, and I can’t use the “I’m sorry, I’m still adjusting to a new schedule” excuse anymore for why I’m so goddamned tired this week. More importantly though, there’s only a month left to go in the Cannonball Read, so if you came here to bitch about television, I’d invite you to either pick up a book or get moving on those reviews you still haven’t written yet. You can do it! And don’t give up now because you think you can’t finish, it finishes on November 1st no matter how many books you read. The goal is just that; a goal, not a requirement. Here’s Thursday night’s TV:

7:30pm: “Thursday Night College Football: Texas A&M at Oklahoma State” on ESPN

8:00pm: “The Big Bang Theory” on CBS

“Bones” on Fox

“Community” on NBC

“My Generation” on ABC

“The Vampire Diaries” on The CW

8:30pm: “30 Rock” on NBC

“Bleep My Dad Says” on CBS. Every time I’m reminded that this show exists, it confuses me more for reasons I can’t quite articulate. It’s disturbing.

9:00pm: “American Chopper: Senior vs. Junior” on TLC

“CSI: Original Formula” on CBS

“Destination Truth” on SyFy

“The First 48” on A&E. Eleventh season premiere.

“Fringe” on Fox

“Grey’s Anatomy” on ABC

“Nikita” on The CW

“The Office” on NBC

“Project Runway” on Lifetime. Apparently some MAJOR SHIT is going down on this week’s episode. Like, I heard one of the promos when I wasn’t facing the television and I thought it was an ad for a horror movie. The music, all the gasping, and then I heard Tim Gunn and was like “Wait, what?” So, all you PR fans, prepare yourselves.

“The Real Housewives of DC” on Bravo

9:30pm: “Outsourced” on NBC

10:00pm: “Undercover Ops” on A&E

“Ace of Cakes” on Food Network

“The Apprentice” on NBC

“Beast Legends” on SyFy.

“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” on FX

“Jersey Shore” on MTV

“The Mentalist” on CBS. I’m still not sure what this show has going for it other than Simon Baker wearing a three piece suit and being wry. Anyone else have a better idea?

“Stan Lee’s Superhumans” on History. First season finale.

“You’re Wearing That?!?” on We. First season finale.

“Private Practice” on ABC

10:30pm: “The League” on FX

“On the Road with Austin and Santino” on Lifetime

11:00pm: “I Love Money” on VH1

Late Night Listings

“The Late Show with David Letterman” on CBS featuring Tom Selleck, Janet Elder, and Tired Pony

“The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on NBC featuring Morgan Freeman, Eric Stonestreet, and Rodrigo y Gabriela

“Jimmy Kimmel Live” on ABC featuring Vanessa Williams, David Cross, and the Avett Brothers

“The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” on CBS featuring Edward Norton and Odette Yustman

“Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” on NBC featuring Bryan Cranston, Jesse Eisenberg, Joshua Topolsky, and the Vaselines

“Last Call with Carson Daly” on NBC featuring Adrian Grenier, Kevin Smith, Tift Merritt, and Japandriods

“The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” on Comedy Central featuring Justin Timberlake

“The Colbert Report” on Comedy Central featuring Aaron Sorkin

I'd be excited about major drama, but the previews have been absurdly misleading all season long. On the other hand, at this point I'm expecting EVERYTHING to go down, what with this particular crop of nutsos and the way the judges are acting? I'm honestly surprised someone hasn't grabbed their model and chucked her at the judges during the judging. They're all pointy, so they'd make good weapons. I can't wait!

In honor of the 50th anniversary of The Flintstones, which is today, the Boomerang channel is airing the very first episode at 8:30 (7:30 CST).

The previews are VERY misleading. There's really only been one that lived up to the hype, and that's the one where Tim put Gretchen in her place during the team challenge.

Everything else has been pretty tame.

“The Mentalist” on CBS. I’m still not sure what this show has going for it other than Simon Baker wearing a three piece suit and being wry. Anyone else have a better idea?

Well, some of the other characters (Cho) are also wryly funny, but really, there is absolutely nothing else to it. Sure ain't the amazing plots.

Boo. The cheating allegations occur next week. This week was just a heartwarming manipulation of the judging panel for personal gain, both in the competition and in life.

I love Mondo; he has been my fave from the very beginning and so I am totally biased. But I think he was already the clear winner before he told his story, and I think that he wasn't just going for manipulation of the panel. His reaction in the green room area afterwards- "I feel good. I feel so good." made me feel even worse for him. I think he was in shock. Maybe you've never experienced a moment when there's suddenly been no other option to confess something so huge, (and I'm really glad for you if that's the case) but I felt it was genuine.

Given the type of pronouncement it was, and what kind of show this is, I thought it was all handled pretty subtly.

The post-credits bit of Community tonight was one of my favorites. Troy broke my heart.
