"I'm Bored. What Do You Want to Do?"

For most of this week I’ve been at the beach in a hotel with an extremely uncomfortable bed and some of the slowest and most frustrating wifi I’ve experienced recently. Oh, and there’s a 14- and a 15-year-old girl here with us (I’m related to one of them) and I’ve noticed an interesting mathematical phenomena: The time it takes two teenage girls to get ready is not double the time it takes one teenage girl to get ready. It’s actually closer to quadruple the time it takes one teenage girl to get ready. Luckily, we’re going home tomorrow and at least I don’t have to listen to the “what do you want to do?” “I don’t know, whatever you want.” “Well, I don’t really care, that’s why I asked you.” “Do you want to go to the boardwalk?” “…I dunno. I guess.” “Well, what do you WANT to do?” “I don’t know, whatever.” circular conversations anymore. Here’s Thursday night’s TV:

8:00 p.m.: “Big Brother” on CBS. 12th season premiere. This is still on? Who watches this?

“Wipeout” on ABC.

9:00 p.m.: “Police Women of Memphis” on TLC.

“Rookie Blue” on ABC.

“Smoking Gun Presents: World’s Dumbest Brawlers 3” on TruTV. I’m not sure it’s a great idea to call people who fit the descriptor “brawlers” dumb. Seems like while they might not have the intellectual wherewithal to verbally defend themselves, there’s a pretty good chance they’d just take a swing at you.

“So You Think You Can Dance” on Fox.

10:00 p.m.: “Ace of Cakes” on Food Network.

“Bethenny Getting Married?” on Bravo.

“Boston Med” on ABC.

“Futurama” on Comedy Central.

“Mall Cops: Mall of America” on TLC.

“The OCD Project” on VH1.

“Penn and Teller: Bullshit” on Showtime. This week’s topic is “easy money,” which I can only see as valuable in the sense that you can tape it and send it to that relative you have who keeps ordering those $80 seminars on how to make $1,000 an hour from home off the TV. Of course, it probably wouldn’t do them any good. Much like those seminars.

Late Night Listings:

“The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” on NBC featuring Steve Carell and Jane Lynch.

“The Daily Show With Jon Stewart” on Comedy Central featuring Marilynne Robinson.

“The Colbert Report” on Comedy Central featuring Arturo Rodriguez.

There is a "Community" marathon that I am particularly looking forward to.

Yep - for everyone who missed it the first time, one of the Community eps is "Modern Warfare". DVRs at the ready, people.

Dear SYTYCD judges,

Please don't send Alex home tonight. There isn't nearly enough Wong in my life.

Thanks,
MelBiv

I was going to watch the last episodes of SoA 1st season since the DVD came in the mail today. However, I went to put Party Down on my Netflix list and found out both seasons are streaming...until tomorrow. Just FYI to anyone who wants to see it.

@MelBivDivoe: I agree. Alex is amazing, and I want one for Christmas.

If anyone's interested, they're also showing Glee all the way through again. I'm just gonna watch the first half, though, so I'll remember the good stuff.

Honestly, the more I think about the season finale, the more it pisses me off. This is the Mash-Up episode, and they just spent this entire episode talking about Quinn is an outcast, how her life is gonna be over, how she wanted to get out of there but couldn't...

And for what? She just gave her baby away to a convenient character and completely forgot about it! Nothing came of it!

Baah. Just the worst example of plots that never went anywhere.

I'm scared for Alex, you guys. I don't think he'll go home this week (I'm gonna say it's Robert, because they can't send another girl home), but if he doesn't dance next week he's out of the competition. waah!

Posted by: figgy at July 8, 2010 8:32 PM

My money's on Adecheke going home. I've grown to love him, but Mia Michaels HATES him. She was so rude last night, bringing up how she wanted to see Alex Wong. Guh!

Cat Deeley deserves an Emmy nom just for bringing up how when Jose did Bollywood they all praised him for his charisma and bitch about Ade putting his spin on things.

Jose and Billy in the bottom two. Billy has been nothing but a disappointment thus far.

What about THE DECISION?

It's happening right now! LeBron is choosing a team! Oh, the wondrous bombast!

Posted by: DarthCorleone at July 8, 2010 9:15 PM

Or Adachike. The judges were ridiculously harsh to him last night. Bastards.

Posted by: figgy at July 8, 2010 9:29 PM

Oooh a twist! Adecheke is safe and Mia had to do a swan song. That was not the phrase, but you get what I'm saying. I'm still made at her though.

So basically, now with Alex, Ashley and Billy in the bottom. Billy is going home, because another girl can't leave and they multiple orgasm over Alex.

SPOILERS for SYTYCD:

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! :(

Yes, Modern Warfare was great. Community Marathon rules!

Who watches Big Brother? Their core audience: Idiots.

Posted by: mechadave at July 8, 2010 11:48 PM

I haven't been watching SYTYCD, but I saw the end last night, and you are right, Alex was one great dancer, and HOT! Did I mention that he was HOT? Damn, I'd like to help him with his physical therapy.

Nice and insulting to those of us who enjoy it during the deadscape of summer TV.
