Earlier in the week some of you were suggesting that I drop the “Intern” part of my name since I have graduate. It’s very kind of you, but puts me in a bind because I’m the one who chose the term “Intern Rusty” so that prospective employers googling me didn’t necessarily turn up discussions of thrush and what shows are best for the casual viewer who appreciates handsome men but not plot. (I have a fairly unusual name.) However, I am open to the idea of a new title so if you’ve got suggestions please let me know. Here’s your Thursday night TV:

7:00pm: “BeyoncĂ©: Year of 4” on MTV

8:00pm: “So You Think You Can Dance” on Fox

“Wipeout” on ABC

9:00pm: “Burn Notice” on USA

“50 Super Epic TV Moments” on E. What’s the over/under on how many of those “Epic Moments” have already appeared on E in one form or another? I’m gonna go with… 20 only because E hasn’t actually existed as a network for too long.

“Expedition Impossible” on ABC

“The First 48” on A&E

“Keeping Score: Mahler: Legacy” on PBS

“Police Women” on tLC

10:00pm: “Extreme Chef” on Food Network

“Futurama” on Comedy Central

“Love Bites” on NBC

“NY Ink” on TLC

“Keeping Score: A Mahler Journey” on PBS. Someone over at PBS really likes their Mahler. I think this is like the fifth show on Mahler I can recall seeing in the last couple weeks. I mean, he’s a pretty awesome dude as far as composers go and I’ve heard that he was a blast to watch conduct. Then again, he helped inspire the Second Viennese School and as someone who has had to take numerous music theory and music history classes that’s really pretty damn unforgivable.

“The Real Housewives of New York City” on Bravo

“Rookie Blue” on ABC

“Suits” on USA

“Swords: Life on the Line” on Discovery

“True Life” on MTV

“Wilfred” on FX

10:30pm: “Louie” on FX

“Ugly Americans” on Comedy Central. Second season premiere.

11:00pm: “True Life” on MTV

“Watch What Happens” on Bravo

12:00am: “Children’s Hospital” on Adult Swim

Late Night Listings

“The Late Show with David Letterman” on CBS featuring Julia Roberts and Cake

“Jimmy Kimmel Live” on ABC featuring Shia LaBeouf, Aaron Rogers, and 311

“The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” on CBS featuring Henry Winkler and Mike Massimino

“The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” on Comedy Central featuring Bill Kristol

“The Colbert Report” on Comedy Central featuring Timothy Garton Ash

“Chelsea Lately” on E featuring Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Ben Gleib, Fortune Feimster, and Josh Wolf

“Conan” on TBS featuring Tom Hanks and Myron Mixon

Intern Rusty has a Masters degree in Music Business and Entertainment Industry. While looking for a job she has taken to blogging again so you can read more about her at Rusty’s Ventures if you’re into that sort of thing.

Mahler is amazing, and the Second Viennese School was...interesting. To be honest, if I'm in the right mood, I can get down with some serialism.

You know you love you some Mahler, IR. I took a graduate seminar in just Mahler symphonies (mostly because the professor of Symphonic Lit was scared to death that I'd try to kill him with malicious thoughts as he read his unabridged Oxford-cribbed lectures) in my junior year, but it wasn't until I actually got paid for playing Mahler 2 that I really developed an appreciation. (Well, sort of, since I can remember cashing the paycheck, but I can't remember actually playing even a single note.)

Extremely Employable Rusty

Intern-ational Rusty?

Also put me down in the Mahler camp; don't know my music history well, but I love how big and loud and dark his stuff is. It's like the heavy metal of...whenever he was around.

Mmm. As a tuba player, Mahler makes me go mmmmmm. Love him. I will have to look up some more about his history, I didn't realize he was such an interesting feller.

He kinda looks like Greg Kinnear.

I immediately regret that drunken comment.

"Then again, he helped inspire the Second Viennese School and as someone who has had to take numerous music theory and music history classes that's really pretty damn unforgivable."

but if it hadn't been for The Resurrection we wouldn't have the awesome themes from Star Wars, Superman or Indiana Jones.
