Pajiba After Dark: Honestly, I Just Wanted To Use This Picture

Up until today I have not seen the video of the song “Friday” featuring Rebecca Black. Mostly because when it came out I was at SXSW and just didn’t have time and after seeing everyone’s reactions to it decided it was best to stay away. Very similar to my approach to “Two Girls One Cup.” (MOM, DO NOT GOOGLE THAT! Call me if you really want to know.) (Sorry, my parents read my column.) However, it was announced last night on “The Colbert Report” that Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Fallon had raised $26,000 for Donors Choose and so Colbert would be performing Patrice Wilson’s (the actual writer of the song, rather than the hapless teenager unfortunate enough to have sung it) “Friday” with The Roots on… Friday. Obviously. So I may have to watch the video just to get the full effect. Oh, and I also saw this video of Amanda Palmer singing Tweets to the tune of “Friday” so again I’m feeling like maybe I might have to just give in and watch it. Thoughts? Mostly typing Friday that much made me wish it WAS Friday but that’s sort of a given. Here’s your Thursday night TV:

8:00pm: “American Idol” on Fox

“The Big Bang Theory” on CBS

“Behind the Burly Q” on Showtime

“Wipeout: Spring Wipeout” on ABC

8:30pm: “Perfect Couples” on NBC

“Rules of Engagement” on CBS

9:00pm: “CSI: I Feel Sorry for George Eads” on CBS

“The First 48” on A&E

“Mobbed” on Fox

“Grey’s Anatomy” on ABC. This is the much promoted “musical episode” where the characters will be singing songs hand picked from the first three episodes of “Grey’s Anatomy.” Now, I know a lot of you aren’t fans of this show but the woman who is the music supervisor for this show, Alaxandra Patsavas, is incredible at her job (if a little prone to certain styles of music) and I trust her to do something interesting with this concept.

“Police Women: Most Amazing Arrests” on TLC

“Swamp People” on History. Second season premiere.

“TNA: Impact” on Spike TV

“Archer” on FX

“Blonde vs. Bear” on Animal Planet. First season finale.

“Taxidermy USA” on Discovery. Sadly, this is not a series but rather a one hour special. What? Like you wouldn’t watch a show about a taxidermy shop.

“Ice Brigade” on Food Network

“Jersey Shore: Reunion Special” on MTV

“Manhunters” on A&E

“The Mentalist” on CBS

“The This Old House Hour” on PBS

“Private Practice” on ABC. I read Steven Lloyd Wilson’s assessment of this show and all I can say is that I 100% agree. I haven’t watched more than two or three episodes though, unlike Steven who has sat through ALL OF THEM. I’m not sure how he can still speak without screaming.

Late Night Listings

“The Late Show with David Letterman” on CBS featuring Chris Rock, Ellen Page, and Funeral Party

“The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on NBC featuring Kourtney and Kim Kardashian, Fareed Zakaria, and Mary Mary

“Jimmy Kimmel Live” on ABC featuring David Beckham, Wes Craven, and Sum 41

“The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” on CBS featuring Julie Chen and Jeffrey Tambor

“Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” on NBC featuring Elton John, James Marsden, and Duran Duran

“Last Call with Carson Daly” on NBC featuring Jonas Akerlund, George Watsky, and Grouplove

“The Daily Show with John Stewart” on Comedy Central featuring Norm MacDonald

“The Colbert Report” on Comedy Central featuring Piers Gibbon

“Chelsea Lately” on E featuring Shenae Grimes, Ross Mathews, Dan Levy, and Dov Davidoff

“Conan” on TBS featuring Greg Kinnear, Steve Schirripa, and Mo Mandel

I'd have thought that all the talk shows would be packed with WWE wrestlers this week, what with Wrestlemania coming up.

No "Community"?

Posted by: Todd at March 31, 2011 6:34 PM

DON'T GIVE IN, RUSTY. I will never watch that thing, and no amount of Colbert will ever convince me to do so.

Also, Todd: alas, all of NBC's block tonight is gonna be reruns. Except for Perfect Couples, but that one doesn't even count anymore. Fuckers.

Figgy, where do you go to get that info? I've never found a consistent and reliable place.

Sum 41?

You listed Conan's guests from last night. Today is Johnny Knoxville, Kaley Cuoco, and Thompson Square.

This was my comment when a friend linked it on Facebook. I repost:
the lack of creativity and the amount of suck in this got so much gravitas its practically burning a black hole in our lives...

Reruns? What.The.Fuck.

Posted by: Baxter Parp at March 31, 2011 8:52 PM

DAMN IT. I'm finally here on a Thursday and no 30 Rock or Parks for me to enjoy? Laaaaame.

And I haven't seen the Friday thing yet, but it sounds like that's the best choice anyway...

Rusty - Watch it. It's totally harmless. It will make you roll your eyes, of course.

Posted by: tamatha at March 31, 2011 9:25 PM

If you don't want to watch the whole video, Colbert put up a 5 or 10 second excerpt on his show. Tuesday, I think it was. That few seconds was enough for me.

Posted by: Three-nineteen at March 31, 2011 9:26 PM

John G: Rusty does a banging job of listing new episodes, but I like to check my local times (sometimes they get wacky) on tvguide, which has local listings and tells you if an episode is new or not. I have the memory of a sieve and never remember what times my shows play at, in case I just want to watch a rerun.

PAD's first line of defense thought.

*though. I need sleep.

, I agree Bad Blood was an awesome episode, especially the he said, she said Luke Wilson stuff (when he had horse teeth in Mulder's description), that was hilarious. But the best of all time was the 4th season "Home". Come on... admit it, every time you hear Johnny Mathis singing

Haven't watched the video for the same reason I don't watch American Idol. I don't like bad singing. But I don't watch the 3K's or Joisey Shore either, so maybe I don't like bad tv.

Man I love Swamp People! They got a guy that catches em with his bare hands! And he can still count to ten!

This version is hilarious! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzfQwXEqYaI
