Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Today’s a day when we honor the strong Irish heritage of many Americans by engaging in behaviors generally considered socially unacceptable, and egregious use of tacky decorations. A day when everyone is Irish, if by “Irish” you mean “prone to drinking a lot while wearing ridiculous clothing prominently featuring green, shamrocks, or directions to kiss something”. Today is also a day when I get an above average numbers of inquiries into my heritage since I “look” Irish, except that I don’t really because most people assumed I was French before I started dying my hair red. However, I will be attempting to parlay my ability to sing Irish folk songs in Irish Gaelic into free drinks. Gotta play to your strengths. Here’s what’s on TV:

8:00 p.m.: “America’s Next Top Model” on The CW. Another 90 minute episode.

“Human Target” on Fox.

“Mercy” on NBC.

“Scrubs” on ABC. Ninth season finale.

8:30 p.m.: “Gary Unmarried” on CBS. Second season finale.

9:00 p.m.: “American Idol: Results Show” on Fox.

9:30 p.m.: “High Society” on The CW. I’ve read a couple reviews of this show that basically say that most of the participants are just downright terrible examples of human beings. I don’t know if that’s an argument to start watching or not.

“The Inbetweeners” on BBCA.

10:00 p.m.: “Addicted” on TLC. Series premiere. I’m waiting for A&E to take TLC to court for identity theft.

“Destination Truth” on SyFy. Third season spring premiere.

“Law and Order: Special Victims Unit” on NBC.

“The Real World” on MTV.

“The Robert Verdi Show Starring Robert Verdi” on Logo.

“Shear Genius” on Bravo.

“South Park” on Comedy Central. 14th season premiere.

“Tyler Perry’s House of Payne” on TBS.

“Ugly Betty” on ABC.

No Modern Family!? Nooooooo
My tv night would've worked out perfectly:
ANTM from 8-9:30, Modern Family 9:30-10, South Park 10-10:30, roommate arrives back around 10:30 and we grab milkshakes (cause we are grudgingly staying responsible college kids and not drinking on weekdays) and watching Boondock Saints.
But no, Modern Family had to fuck up the flow. Not cool.

Anyway, Happy St. Patty's Day!!! Must be weird to not have Irish heritage on this day...never thought about that before.

Thank god I'm not the only one who noticed TLC's bizarre cloning of A&Es schedule. Not only is it completely unoriginal, it's not at all timely.

Jesus woman, you can sing Irish folk songs in the original Gaelic? That's a little bit, um, awesome.

I can't handle the commercials for "Addicted." Shows like that make me feel...weird, in general, but the combination of that and that Sinead O'Connor song make me want to cry. I mute the TV/ change the channel whenever it comes on (which is pretty much every commercial break on every channel).

St. Patrick's Day? DAY? It's St. Patrick's week, you underachievers. I was in London this morning and I walked passed a pub on Tottenham Court Road that was decked out with cheesy green balloons and shamrocks and leprechauns. And right over the entrance there was a flag... a big Italian flag. Two out of three ain't bad, I guess.

Anyway, I'm back in Glasgow. Come over.

I just had crazy deja vu. I'm steaming.

Love

Me.

That High Society show is seriously disgusting. I can't believe there are actually people like this in the world. Their punishment should be exile into some hellish third world country--no power, no water and worse of all, no cameras. They need it. The WORLD needs it.

Boo, Having to get up at 8 tomorrow to learn how to treat people who get hit by lightning in the woods.
