FX is Failing to Cater to My Whims

Watch Download Archer on FX Cartoon TV show.jpg

Its Thursday night which means something for me, because I’m a student and Thursday night is the night when we all go out because there’s a lot of drink specials and we think we’re invincible until about 8am Friday morning when the alarm goes off and it becomes immediately apparent that we’re not. It will only be worse this weekend because the Super Bowl is here this year and there’s all sorts of sponsored promotional crap happening thats supposed to be all about giving the fans a good time but is really more like “PLEASE BUY THE BIG MAC SNACK WRAP! AND WASH IT DOWN WITH A PEPSI! WHILE WATCHING VH1!” Not that I object to corporations giving me free shit in futile attempts to convince me to buy their products, which is why I have both a PSP and a Ford Fiesta tee shirt yet own neither a PSP or a car. While I attempt to convince a friend with a car to take me out to the beach to collect any and all cheap free crap available to me through the weekend, this is what’s on television:

8:00pm: “Bones” on Fox. Fifth season winter finale, so we’ve got the whole Thursday night line up together for this one week before going back into re-run and mid season replacement land.

“Carnie Wilson: Unstapled” on GSN

“Community” on NBC

“The Deep End” on ABC

“The Vampire Diaries” on The CW

8:30pm: “Parks and Recreation” on NBC

9:00pm: “CSI: Colonel’s Original” on CBS

“Fringe” on Fox. Second season winter finale.

“Grey’s Anatomy” on ABC

“The Office” on NBC. This better not be a clip show or Figgy will probably set the internet on fire.

“Supernatural” on The CW

“Pepsi Super Bowl Fan Jam 2010” on VH1. This appears not to be free, although since its being headlined by Justin Bieber and Rihanna, I probably would’ve given it a miss even if it was.

9:30pm: “30 Rock” on NBC

10:00pm: “Ace of Cakes” on Food Network

“Archer” on FX. I keep missing this thanks to the Thursday = go out drinking night aspect of college life and it’s super annoying to me that FX doesn’t have episodes online. Fix your shit, FX.

“Burn Notice” on USA

“Celebrity Rehab with Dr.Drew” on VH1

“Important Things with Demetri Martin” on Comedy. Second season premiere.

“The Jay Leno Show” on NBC

“The Mentalist” on CBS

“Project Runway” on Lifetime

“America’s Best Dance Crew” on MTV

“The Real Housewives of Orange County” on Bravo

“Private Practice”on ABC

Truth, Intern rusty. This is.

I cannot believe that I will end up missing Fringe tonight in order to work on a presentation for a class that will inevitably be canceled tomorrow afternoon due to the Epic Snowstorm of Doom.

Posted by: Claire at February 4, 2010 7:11 PM

Also Good News Week came back on monday and is viewable at http://ten.com.au/good-news-week.htm. Australian comedy ftw.

Posted by: Chugga at February 4, 2010 7:16 PM

Snuggie will help figgy set the internet on fire if The Office is a clip show. Then they will both set fire to LA.

"I will end up missing Fringe tonight in order to work on a presentation for a class..."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA you don't have DVR, you suck, I laugh at you.

Anyway, I missed the first Archer episodes too. NO LONGER!

Posted by: BarbadoSlim at February 4, 2010 7:21 PM

I'll bring the matches to said fire.
Clip shows should've been burning in eternal hellfire years ago.

Posted by: gee. ay. at February 4, 2010 7:23 PM

I'm so sorry to see that your apostrophe key got broken, Rusty. I hope it gets better real soon!

I don't know if you watch Fringe, but you probably don't, because if you did you'd know that its true name is The Walter Show. Yay, The Walter Show's on tonight!

Posted by: Jerce at February 4, 2010 7:26 PM

*gets sticks and kindling ready*

lucky for them, I think it's a new episode.

WITH KATHY FREAKIN' BATES!

Wooo!

Posted by: figgy at February 4, 2010 7:33 PM

Can I join in on the arson activities? Fire pretty.

Posted by: jM at February 4, 2010 7:34 PM

My roommate watches that Archer show. Having it on the TV makes me want to have my teeth drilled for a more pleasurable experience. I think my obituary a few short years from now will say:

DarthCorleone - died from a lack of a sense of humor.

Posted by: DarthCorleone at February 4, 2010 8:00 PM

No, humorless and pathetic human. Your obituary - if we were to bother memorializing you or any other lumps of inert flesh during the EPOCH OF ROBOTS - might say:

DarthCorleone - died in slow, excruciating pain by way of exceedingly bloody injuries dealt by sharp, spinning robotic mechanisms.

Posted by: DarthCorleone's Robotic Executioner at February 4, 2010 8:10 PM

KATHY BATES?!?!!
Looks like we'll have to hold off on that bonfire... They may redeem themselves. MAY! Keyword, MAY.

Posted by: gee. ay. at February 4, 2010 8:15 PM

Sarah Silverman show starts again tonight too. Fun stuff

Posted by: Riles at February 4, 2010 8:33 PM

Meh, I really can't get into Community. Just not funny.

Posted by: figgy at February 4, 2010 8:35 PM

Lets burn figgy!

Posted by: jM at February 4, 2010 9:00 PM

HEY.

ooh! Office!!!!!!

Posted by: figgy at February 4, 2010 9:01 PM

Yay! OFFICE! No clip show! Exclamations abound!

Posted by: bonnie at February 4, 2010 9:06 PM

I think I read on another thread that in order to punish those who created that clip show, figgy shook Keith Richards out of a tree. I don't know why, but it seems as reasonable as anything else.

Posted by: welldressed at February 4, 2010 9:11 PM

Christian Slater! Kathy Bates!
New people!

So I didn't realize what song Erin and Andy were covering, but I thought it was cute and funny.
Then I started singing it:
"YeeeaAAaaAaAAahh....Party in the U.S.FUCKITSMILEYCYRUSAAAAAAAAAGH!

But I think this new angle of the "Sabrey" company will be interesting. Besides the-episode-that-shall-not-be-named (but it starts with clip and ends with show) this season has been pretty fresh.

Posted by: gee. ay. at February 4, 2010 9:14 PM

I kid because I love... fires.

Posted by: jM at February 4, 2010 9:16 PM

If it helps any Archer reruns on late Sunday or Monday morning on FX.

Posted by: Jules at February 4, 2010 9:23 PM

Again, I'm not confirming or denying anything, but if, next time someone airs a Clip Show and some elderly rock star just HAPPENS to fall out of a tree, it will be COMPLETELY BY ACCIDENT and COINCIDENCE.

And, in a totally unrelated matter, I might be needing some emergency phone numbers for homes I can stay in for a few days. Just, you know, for fun.

Posted by: figgy at February 4, 2010 9:27 PM

Oh man, Office. My friend just pointed out (quite correctly) that one of the best things about this show is just how it...completely destroys characters. Has them way at the top then just...crushes them. Usually through Michael Scott. See: Jan, Ryan, Charles, and now David. It's brilliant and just so tragic. Hilarity in tragedy--that's what that show is all about.

Posted by: figgy at February 4, 2010 9:32 PM

Thursday night is the best night for TV, especially now that we've been blessed with Archer

It's filling the void that Arrested Development left in my life.

Posted by: michaelceratops at February 4, 2010 10:20 PM

*ring ring*

Oh, hey, figgy, what's up?

Oh? Just hanging out? Enjoying the married life?

Yeah, it's a quiet night for me too. I have a problem set due tomorrow, so...

Oh, no, I didn't get a chance to watch The Office yet. Yeah, I'm pretty excited about there being an actual plot this week, so...

WHAT? You're giving spoilers on PAD? So if I happen to be Pajibing more than 2 minutes after the episode ends, I'll find out what happens?

Oh? It wasn't a major spoiler? True, I guess. I mean, it isn't like the Wallace thing started in the middle of the episode or anything...

Yeah, it's no biggie. I mean, it's not like a person watching a half hour late would sit there waiting on the edge of her seat for David to show up, thereby distancing herself emotionally from the events and removing about 4/5 of the awkwardness or anything.

haha, yes! Dustin would totally do that!

No way. Nathan Fillion is WAY hotter.

OK! Say hi to Mr. figz! Bye!

Posted by: esme at February 4, 2010 10:31 PM

Oh man...it's bad that I'm laughing and feeling totally embarrassed at the same time, isn't it?

I'm sorry! Seriously didn't even think about it being a spoiler. I just...I mean, David was ruined from when he was fired, and I was kind of expecting him to show up like Jan....but I get it. I'm sorry! really!

Posted by: figgy at February 4, 2010 11:23 PM

esme I've never seen such a well-done and humorous "hey watch the spoilers!" post.

Is anyone else just completely freaking in LOVE with Parks and Recreation????

Posted by: Snuggiepants the Deathbringer at February 4, 2010 11:39 PM

Is anyone else just completely freaking in LOVE with Parks and Recreation????

Posted by: Snuggiepants the Deathbringer

Yes! I never saw the first season but heard it was kind of meh. If that's true, they must've fixed what was broken because I absolutely love it.

Posted by: lucy at February 5, 2010 12:16 AM

esme: I love you. Jesus that was good.

Posted by: Lindsey with an 'e' at February 5, 2010 2:35 AM

Parks & Rec was good last season, but it got better as it went along. The characters are more smoothed out and a bit more realistic this season. Leslie is smarter, and a bit more savvy, and there is more for Ron to do. I think it is the funniest show on Thursday's lineup. I love the pervasive universe, it's like "Arrested Development". There are callbacks to previous episodes all the time.

The Office really feels like it is making it up as it goes along. I wonder when they are going to paint themselves into a corner with this Sabre thing.

30 Rock was pretty bad this week except for the Paranormal Activity parody at the end. And Jan Hooks? Yow! What happened to her?

Posted by: TylerDFC at February 5, 2010 7:45 AM

MOTHERFUCKER I FORGOT BURN NOTICE AGAIN.

I suck at this 'remembering shows I like' game.

Hulu and I shall have to have some quality together-time when I get home tonight.

Posted by: Gabs at February 5, 2010 11:47 AM

Archer. Aah Archer. Tried it. Let me save you the trouble. Take equal parts Family Guy, Get Smart and South Park, stir together, then take a giant steaming dump on top. Voila, Archer. A good line here or there, but it's completely forgettable.
