There are two groups who are really interested in watching television tonight and those would be the Olympics addicts (me) and the “Lost” obsessives. For the record, I tried to read an article about what was happening on “Lost” earlier this week and I came out of it far more confused than I was when I went in, so I’m going to continue ignoring its existence. Onto Olympics! I watched the ice dancing last night and I’m becoming more and more convinced that the much vaunted new scoring system for skating has not actually made scoring less corrupt, but only made it harder to tell who’s giving the corrupt scores. Now it’s just this weird composite score that doesn’t even look like it’s out of anything real and doesn’t seem to tell the average viewer anything. Of course, this is all coming from someone who can’t tell a toe loop from an axel so don’t listen to a damn word I say. Anyway, television tonight is slim pickings, so here’s your options:

8:00pm: “American Idol” on Fox. New two hour episode.

“Olympic Winter Games” on NBC. I think ladies figure skating starts tonight, but don’t quote me on that.

“Megabeasts’ Sudden Death” on PBS. This just sounds interesting.

9:00pm: “19 Kids and Counting” on TLC

“Dirty Jobs” on Discovery. Sixth season finale. It’s called “Crew Unemployment” so… I’m actually not sure what that means. Or how dirty it might be. But it will feature Mike Rowe and I know that’s enough for a lot of you.

“Last Restaurant Standing” on BBCA. Third season finale.

“Lost” on ABC

10:00pm: “16 and Pregnant” on MTV

“The Forgotten” on ABC. This seems like it’s on its way to being one of those shows that I keep forgetting exist yet stay on TV for years. Or rather, the first half of that is already true, and if the show is lucky the second part will become true.

“The Little Couple” on TLC. Second season finale.

“The Michael Vick Project” on BET

“White Collar” on USA

Women's Figure Skating is indeed on tonight. Kim Yu-Na could win South Korea's first-ever figure skating medal! Exciting!!

I just realized that I'm only proud to be Korean when the Winter Olympics are on.

Oh, I hope we get a Sawyer or Desmond-centered episode soon. And Sayid, he of the luscious man-locks..... mmmmm.

Because I forgot yesterday, Good News Week had the Prime Minister on it this week! Paul totally gave him all the answers but it was still an amusing episode. http://ten.com.au/video-player.htm?vxSiteId=cb519624-44a2-4bf7-808b-3514d34e96e4&vxChannel=GNW%20CUTV

Not into the Olympics OR Lost but I've got 16 and Pregnant! Hopefully this week we'll see a girl who is not as lame and boring as the one last week.

Hank Venture quote for the title. Nice.
Speaking of VB, Rusty, when the hell does it come back on the air?

Schpida, the only information I've seen is the Wikipedia entry that lists all the "Venture Brothers" episodes that have a tentative air date listed for a new episode with title TBA airing on August 22nd. Trust me, the minute I know for sure, from Jackson Publick's blog or adult swim's site, there will be an entire Pajiba After Dark dedicated to when "Venture Brothers" is coming back no matter what is actually on TV that night.

I don't understand the scoring either, but it sure looked to me like the Gold and Silver medalists last night were miles better than anyone else that was skating.

Some of us fall into both categories, and since NBC is sure to save the skating for 10 pm, I should be able to have my cake and eat it too.

Not that anyone watches anymore, but this has to be the single worst crop of female contestants on American Idol since Season 1. I'd kill for a Ryan Starr or Nikki McKibbin right now. At least they tended to stay on pitch and perform a little. You know, shake their tatas, stomp around the stage, sing into the microphone? Cause that's somehow lost on this bunch.

Schpida (he is our hero) has the win for best obscure-TMBG-referencing handle on Pajiba. I bow to you, sir-or-madam.

OHHHHHH!

oooh! Rusty! I saw Venture Brothers for the first time last weekend and I LOVED it! Next week with not much work (this summer?) I'm totally watching all of it.

Age not important?? Sweet!

Man, I hate the Olympics. Bribery, inconsistent judging practices, obscure sporting events, FAKE amateur athletes, and crass commercialism...what's not to hate?

Posted by: Dano at February 24, 2010 6:26 AM

What is the hell is Michael Vick project?? Does it involve dogs taking turns electrocuting HIM?? I can't believe BET would give him money for a show and I'm disgusted by any attempts he makes to polish his image...animal cruelty for sport isn't forgiven because you're rich, famous, and dont like backlash. Disgusting.

Hooray! Someone caught it!

I promise not to kill you....
