Sushi, Dates, What CAN'T You Get From a Conveyor Belt?

It's the first weekday of 2010 which has no effect whatsoever on me, because I'm a shiftless graduate student who's currently at home for break and being supported by my loving parents so I don't have to work. Although I did hear my father and sister leaving for work and school this morning, and felt a pang of sympathy, similar to the pang of sympathy I feel for the rest of you who are gainfully employed and had to get up and brave sub-freezing temperatures today to get to work. I wish I could tell you that it's all going to be OK and you can relax and watch some entertaining television, but unless you're a fan of Misery Night, it's slim pickings since TV is still on winter break. Here's what you can expect:

7:30pm: "Tostitos Fiesta Bowl" #4 TCU vs. #6 Boise State" on FOX

8:00pm: "Antiques Roadshow" on PBS, 14th Season Premiere. And I think the existence of this show encourages a mental illness on a show that will be coming on later in the evening.

"The Bachelor" on ABC, 14th Season Premiere

"Heroes" on NBC, apparently the first of the regular network shows to return to form.

9:00pm: "Cake Boss" on TLC

"Intervention" on A&E

"Mythbusters" on Discovery. Now, I like "Mythbusters" but I can't help feeling sad that Kari's out on maternity leave. I miss her. And not just because we look remarkably alike, but because I thought she was a cool chick and the girl who's stepped in for her hasn't grown on me yet.

10:00pm: "Conveyor Belt of Love" on ABC. My father has been breathlessly awaiting this premiere, which he sees as the logical end result of televised dating shows.

"Hoarders" on A&E, you remember my comment about "Antiques Roadshow" up there? Yeah, this is the other show I was referring to.

"The Jay Leno Show" on NBC

"Men of a Certain Age" on TNT

"Motor City Motors" on Discovery
