Hello, good people of Pajiba-land! It’s Thursday night, so it’s the start of my weekend from this job, but I’m going to be stage managing at the Miami Music Festival tonight and Saturday night, and attending the music conference happening here tomorrow and Saturday. Between the late nights working at the concerts and the waking up early to attend the conference, I anticipate getting all of maybe 12 hours of sleep between now and Sunday. At least I don’t have any other finals this week, that would really suck. Anyway, here’s a list of all the TV shows I won’t be seeing tonight:

8:00 p.m.: “Bones” on FOX. I’m not sure how this show can top the grease-corpse from last episode, gross-wise, but I also know they’ll try to. Bless them.

“Community” on NBC.

“Pittsburgh Steelers at Cleveland Browns” on the NFL Network. Man, that’s just mean. There’s not going to be a game, there’s just going to be a beating.

“Survivor” on CBS.

8:30 p.m.: “Parks and Recreation” on NBC.

9:00 p.m.: “CSI” on CBS.

“Fringe” on FOX.

“The Jeff Dunham Show” on Comedy Central, 1st season finale, so work on praying to the higher power of your choosing that it doesn’t get renewed.

“The Office” on NBC; it’s the annual Christmas episode so get your cringing face ready. The episode is called “Secret Santa” and I guess all of us remember how well the last “Secret Santa” at Dunder-Mifflin went.

9:30 p.m.: “30 Rock” on NBC. Also called “Secret Santa.” Huh.

10:00 p.m.: “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” on FX, 5th season finale.

“The Jay Leno Show” on NBC.

“Jersey Shore” on MTV. I’m given to believe this may be the already infamous “punch” episode, as a warning to those who saw the clip already and didn’t like it and I guess a heads-up to those who saw it and did. As I said previously, I found it disturbing on multiple levels, but to each their own.

“The Mentalist” on CBS.

10:30 p.m.: “The League” on FX, 1st season finale.

Parks and Recreation is STILL on?

I thought they had terminated that clunker.

Jeff Dunham is fucking terrible.

Posted by: Benny at December 10, 2009 7:49 PM

Is anyone else kind of hating The Office lately?

Posted by: panacea at December 10, 2009 8:00 PM

Yeah, that Scott's Tots thing was just brutal. Pulling the rug out from city kids who worked hard to go to college? I'm not even sure that can be made funny, but they fell waaaaay short. That episode was so bad, it might have made television jump the shark.

Posted by: sansho1 at December 10, 2009 8:30 PM

Oh, Yaweh, please smite Jeff Dunham with the worst Egyptian related punishments. Make him piss a kidney stone the size of a bowling ball that comes alive upon extraction, and tears off his head in a Sam Raimi related way. Send the kidney stone to the Comedy Central headquarters, and may it extract punishment upon the people responsible for Mind of Mencia, Drawn Together, Chocolate News, Secret Girlfriend, and any and all reruns of the stand up specials of Dane Cook and Larry the Cable Guy.

Amen.

Dude, that grease corpse opening was over the top ridiculous, but I still love Bones (I'd add that this week's Castle w/ the amnesiac was also pretty ridic)!

Posted by: Alarmjaguar at December 10, 2009 9:03 PM

That Office episode was paaaainful. Not just the Scott's Tots storyline, either. I can't entirely hate Jeff Dunham, though, because my awareness of his existence helped me win free drink tickets at trivia.

Posted by: SaBrina at December 10, 2009 10:12 PM

O-line need a little work there, Steelers?

Posted by: neurotica at December 10, 2009 10:16 PM

My love for 30 Rock continues to grow.

Posted by: Gabs at December 10, 2009 10:48 PM

oy. Scott's Tots made me skip ahead on Hulu. Then I felt bad and skipped back. Then I felt horrible and skipped ahead again. Not worth it. It also felt terribly contrived -- usually they'll set things up in advance in some way, but that one jut came out of left field.

Posted by: esme at December 10, 2009 11:22 PM

I would hate to be a Steelers fan right now...

Posted by: Monica at December 10, 2009 11:36 PM

I've just renounced Verdukianism.

Posted by: TSF at December 10, 2009 11:58 PM

I know that part of the appeal of the Office is the idiotic, narsacistic boss with a heart of gold. Well I call BULLSHIT. He is an asshole. Without a doubt a big selfish man-child of an asshole. The writers effort to paint emotions of guilt dont fool me and is not at all endearing.

Scot, listen up. You sir are an asshole! And I wave my middle finger in your general direction.

Wow, I'm glad I got that off my chest. And now to get back to project i need to finish in 18 hrs, which is making me feel like stabbing things.

Posted by: Draya at December 11, 2009 12:00 AM

AMEN George!

Posted by: trixie at December 11, 2009 12:22 AM

Ventriloquism, no less. Who the fuck finds that entertaining in 2009? It's like somewhere between a blackface routine and drunk driving. Stop doing it.

Posted by: Benny at December 11, 2009 12:58 AM

Jeff Dunham is officially a twat. His puppet routine was cute the first time around, but nothing to make a series into! I hope Jeff Dunham goes insane like Anthony Hopkins in Magic (1978) and stabs himself before his puppets come to life and kill us all.

"Community" made me laugh out loud at home by myself tonight. So ossom!!

Posted by: Livience at December 11, 2009 5:34 AM

BSlim: Parks & Rec has been great this year. Often the funniest show of the NBC night.

Office was much better tonight ("I heal leopards.") and 30 Rock was the funniest of the season I thought. They scaled back the Tracy and Jenna plot lines into something resembling reality so I thought it worked better than usual. And you really can't go wrong with Julianne Moore mangling a Bas-tin accent.

Posted by: TylerDFC at December 11, 2009 6:19 AM

Man, now the Steelers-Browns comment just makes me weep.

Posted by: K at December 11, 2009 6:28 AM

Alarmjaguar, I'm with you on the Bones love in spite of or because of how ridiculous it can be. Exploded Santa Corpse didn't top Grease Corpse, although making the people who got plastered with Santa bits wait around while the evidence was tweezered off them was pretty gruesome. You'd have to shoot me to keep me from racing into the nearest shower. And did Daisy use the phrase "dental pulp?" Possibly the grossest thing I've ever heard.

Cut a phone conversation with my sister short with "Sorry, have to hang up, David Boreanaz is being stripped naked now".

Posted by: DeadBessie at December 11, 2009 7:58 AM

“Pittsburgh Steelers at Cleveland Browns” on the NFL Network. Man, that’s just mean. There’s not going to be a game, there’s just going to be a beating.

The Browns are the suckiest sucks who ever sucked a suck and the Mighty Steelers suck their suck! Hey Ben! *mimics drinking with hand tipped up to mouth* Glug, glug you fucking neanderthal!!!

Posted by: Kballs at December 11, 2009 7:58 AM

Wait...wait hold the phone. The Browns won? Say what? I know Pittsburgh is having an off year but HUH?????

The Steelers played like they couldn't care less. Strange when you consider it's their job to do so and they are still on the threshold of a postseason spot.

Seriously they way they moved in the huddle before every play it was like Big Ben said, "Half Ass, Don't Givashit, on one...ready, set....MEH!"

I'm an NBC whore, so here goes:

I enjoyed Community more tonight than I ever have. HAPPY MERRY! I have been very meh on this show since it started, but it's growing on me now.

Parks and Rec is one of my favorite guilty pleasures. I don't know, I just LOOOOVE that show. I'm getting it on DVD for Christmas--the husband doesn't realize my amazon wish list shows me when something was purchased. FIST PUMP!

I, the Greatest Office Whore EVER, disliked the Scott's Tots episode so much I barely bothered to watch much of it. ME. MEEEEEE. Ug. It was just awful.

And I wasn't too hot on this Christmas one last night, either. Mr. Snuggiepants knew something was very wrong in my world when I walked out of the room and there wasn't a commercial on. I think he gasped.

30 Rock still rocks, though last night had the fewest quotable lines of any episode I've ever seen.

Posted by: Snuggiepants the Deathbringer at December 11, 2009 10:07 AM

I have had a major hatred of Jeff Dunham for years. YEARS, people. Ick. I almost swore off Comedy Central because of his show. I definitely didn't go surfing by there on the off chance that I might hit when that load of unfunny crap would be on. Luckily, I did not catch one second of his shit pile this season.

Fucking puppets.

Posted by: wsapnin at December 11, 2009 10:13 AM

I’m not sure how this show can top the grease-corpse from last episode, gross-wise

Hm, well, I missed grease corpse, but I'm gonna say Exploding Santa corpse (with bits in people's hair) was up there on the GrossMeter.

Naked Booth, though? I think I shorted out the remote with the drooling. Mmm hm.

Posted by: Anna von Beaverpuppet at December 11, 2009 10:18 AM

Mr. SCPTFT and I watch 30 Rock upon occasion and every time it lets us
down. I cannot fathom why this show wins awards. It is corny and trite.
To quote an old post by a fellow Pajiban - it isn't the funniest show on
television, it isn't even the funniest show on Thursday night!

Posted by: Supercomfypampertimefloatythrone at December 11, 2009 11:33 AM

I started watching Community on Hulu and Project Free TV last week, and I am so so surprised to say that... "I LOVE IT!!!" I do! It consistently cracks me up every time... Donald Glover cracks me up, that Soup guy cracks me up, Chevy Chase is SUCH A CREEP on it... love love love.

Posted by: dene at December 11, 2009 12:16 PM

Community is surprisingly awesome, and I thinks I shall have to watch this Parks and Rec show, since it seems to be getting the love. Bones was rather bittersweet last night, as befits a Christmas show, but I did get to watch it with my 84 year old Mom and got to hear her say "An exploding Santa? Now there's something you don't see every day..."

Oh, and 30 Rock is genius squared, Ms. Supercomfy, but we all have our own tastes. I myself think Family Guy is utter crap, but many people I respect find it hilarious.
