He's Back!

Everyone here should be well aware by now of what tonight’s big television news is, but since I’ve got some space to fill; tonight is the night Conan O’Brien’s show returns to television. While it is true that he’s returning to TBS (home of Tyler Perry’s “Meet the Browns” and the George Lopez show) I know there are plenty of people out there who are just happy enough to have him back on television. Of course, now begins the struggle over deciding if one should watch Conan or “The Daily Show” and “The Colbert Report” and I’m sure that will lead to much strife, wailing, gnashing of teeth and whatnot. I can’t offer any direction in what decision you should make other than listing the guests on the programs in question but rest assured that I will judge all of you for your decision. Harshly. Here’s your Monday night TV:

8:00pm: “90210” on The CW

“Dancing With the Stars” on ABC

“House” on Fx

“How I Met Your Mother” on CBS

“Little People, Big World” on TLC

“Decision Points: A Conversation with George W. Bush” on NBC

“Wreck Chasers” on Discovery. I know it’s now what this show is about but the title makes it sound like this is the punch line to some bad joke about those attorneys who advertise all over the radio about how much money they can get you after your car accident even if you have no insurance, stole the car, had your license suspended and were actually doing a beer bong at the time of the crash or however those go. I tend to tune them out before I really hear much.

8:30pm: “Monday Night Football: Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals” on ESPN

“Rules of Engagement” on CBS

“Wreck Chasers” on Discovery

9:00pm: “American Restoration” on History

“The Best Thing I Ever Ate” on Food Network

“Cake Boss” on TLC

“Dr. G: Medical Examiner” on Health

“The Event” on NBC

“Gossip Girl” on The CW

“In Treatment” on HBO

“Lie to Me” on Fox

“My Big Friggin Wedding” on VH1

“Scare Tactics” on SyFy. This is one of those reality shows that seems guaranteed to end with someone getting punched. Of course, I think that about an awful lot of reality shows.

“Two and a Half Men” on CBS

“WWE: Raw” on USA

9:30pm: “American Restoration” on History

“In Treatment” on HBO

“Mike and Molly” on CBS

10:00pm: “The A-List: New York” on Logo

“Bret Michaels: Life as I Know It” on VH1

“Chase” on NBC

“Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives” on Food Network

“Hawaii Five-0” on CBS

“Hoarders” on A&E

“Pawn Star$” on History

“Southern Fried Stings” on TruTV

“Weeds” on Showtime

“The World of Jenks” on MTV

“Castle” on ABC

10:30pm: “The Big C” on Showtime

“The Buried Life” on MTV

“Mario Lopez: Saved By the Baby” on Vh1

“Pawn Star$” on History

Late Night Listings

“The Late Show with David Letterman” on CBS featuring Harrison Ford and Cee-Lo Green

“The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on NBC featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger, David Baker, and N.E.R.D. Noooooooo! Pharrell! Why?!? Why must you taunt my love?

“Jimmy Kimmel Live” on ABC featuring Adam Carolla and Neil Diamond

“The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” on CBS featuring Tom Selleck and Myg Kaplan

“Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” on NBC featuring Scarlett Johansson, Chris Morris, and Toots & the Maytals

“The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” on Comedy Central featuring Gov. Rick Perry

“The Colbert Report” on Comedy Central featuring Reza Aslan

“Chelsea Lately” on E featuring Keenan Cahill, Josh Wolf, Sarah Colonna and Chris Franjola

“Conan” on TBS featuring Seth Rogen, Lea Michele, and Jack White

Si! CONANDO!

Stupid Comcast thinks TBS is pure spun gold and won't let me watch it on my broke-ass "economy" package. (Or TNT, but I won't cry too much about it because I still got the AMC.)

!Viva Conando!

Ah yes...and GO STEELERS WOO!

I haven't supported Scare Tactics since they kicked original host Shannen Doherty to the curb for being an uncontrollable diva. That was what sold me on the show. Not only do you have your best friend, now officially an asshole, setting you up to be attacked by a ravenous brood of chupacabras (chupacabri?) on your awesome buddy road trip, but Brenda from 90210 comes out to laugh in your face for being an idiot. It was like pissing in the open wound.

Hellooooooooooooooooo ANTIQUES ROADSHOW. Are you blind McFly?

My suggestion to those with DVR TVs - alternate nights between Conan and the Comedy Central Fake News Block, and record the other while you're watching one. Sort of like high school block scheduling. You can even assign A days and B days. I'm a friggin' dork. And I don't have a TV.

Mmmmmmmm Amber Tamblyn. Welcome to the team.

Robert,

I totally agree with your logic there. However, I would point out that having a friend set you up to get scared shitless, THEN having Tracy Morgan come out and laugh at you (or babble incoherently), would create a maelstrom of cognitive dissonance from which you might never recover.

/never watched an episode of Scare Tactics

This is a silly question, I know, but I'm trying to figure out how to watch Conan from overseas, and I'm so confused.

Why is Robocop (3am-5am ET) on TBS on at the same time as Leno (11:34-12:37 ET)on NBC when both Conan and Leno are, according to my understanding, supposed to be on between 11-12 pm?

I'd be extremely grateful for any help with figuring out when to wake up for Conan.

Seth Rogen's the best they could do? Pshaw.

In Canada they playThe Daily Show/Colbert Report and Conan back to back on The Comedy Network and CTV.

I couldn't watch the Seth Rogan interview. Once his mouth started flapping, I changed the channel.

My concern, MM, is that Tracey Morgan leaves too much room for ambiguity. He'll just keep riffing on the few reveal lines they give him and some people might not understand what just happened. They'll be left sad and confused and wondering how that guy from 30 Rock stopped the banshee from destroying the universe at just the right moment. With Doherty, the bitch face alone let you know you were had.

I like Conan but I love Stewart & Colbert. Conan will be DVRed. I don't know how Leno & Letterman are still on the air, nobody I know has watched either in ages.

Ooh conans back, meh never cared for him don't see that changing.

Posted by: clancys_daddy at November 9, 2010 9:12 AM

In Canada we get to watch Jon Stewart at 11:00, Stephen Colbert at 11:30, and then Conan at Midnight, all on the same channel.

Just more proof that everything in Canada is just better.
