Note To Self: Pack Loose Jeans

As I write this I’m further procrastinating on packing for my Thanksgiving trip. I mean, I’ve still got … four hours and forty minutes till flight time. Nothing to worry about! Also today starts the last few days I get to ignore the upcoming Christmas season, as I’m one of the few people I know who absolutely loathes to prepare for Christmas before American Thanksgiving is over. After Thursday I’ll be free to start gift planning, decorating my room, and enjoying specially flavored beverages from overpriced coffee chains. Until Thursday, it’s all about the food. Luckily there are several Thanksgiving-themed episodes happening tonight:

8:00 p.m.: “Dancing With The Stars” on ABC, special 90-minute episode.

“Heroes” on NBC.

“Surviving the Holidays with Lewis Black” on History.

“House” on FOX.

“How I Met Your Mother” on CBS. The episode is called “Slapsgiving 2: Revenge of the Slap” which probably means something to those of you who follow this show.

8:30 p.m.: “Accidentally on Purpose” on CBS.

“Monday Night Football: Tennessee Titans at Houston Texans” on ESPN.

9:00 p.m.: “Trauma” on ABC.

“Two and a Half Men” on CBS.

“Lie to Me” on FOX.

9:30 p.m.: “Big Bang Theory” on CBS.

“Find My Family” on ABC. Series premiere, but I’ve seen commercials for this and does it strike anyone else that this show has the potential to go terribly terribly wrong? Some people don’t want to be found, you know? That’s why they left / gave up the child / whatever in the first place. Which is sad for whoever got left behind, but it’s a lot more upsetting to try and “reconnect” with someone who really doesn’t want you around.

10:00 p.m.: “Castle” on ABC.

“CSI: Miami” on CBS.

“The Jay Leno Show” on NBC.

me neither. But Barbslim: stop the all caps. or I will have an overwhelming urge to protect you...

Posted by: patchfire at November 23, 2009 7:57 PM

Potential?! Shit, it had BETTER go horribly wrong. Otherwise, what's the point?

Posted by: Tracer Bullet at November 23, 2009 8:02 PM

I'm with Daniel. What is going on?

Posted by: figgy at November 23, 2009 8:28 PM

Dear Marshall,

Slap him hard. So hard his cloths fall off.

Love, Esme

ps-you're adorable!

House should go back to doing clinic duty.

Monday night TV suuuuuuuucks. The only good things about it are Big Bang Theory (though tonight was kinda lame aside from Sheldon as usual) and that tomorrow we get another one of Dan's brilliant recaps of Dancing With the Stars. I'll be so sad next week.

Figgy:

Thank you! Why can't we have geeks on TV like the characters in Spaced, where they're just normal people who happen to love pop culture, as opposed to cartoonish, borderline-Aspergers cases like in Big Bang Theory?!

Doctor Who: Dreamland part 3 was tonight for all you fans of
a) Cute animation
b) David Tennant's voice
c) Doctor Who adventures
d) Area 51 conspiracy theories
e) Cheesy sound effects

Now, if you'll excuse me, I can hear the "oooooeeee eeoooooooooeeeeeeoooooooooooooooooooooooooeeeeooooo ooeooooooeooooeeeeeeoooooooooeeeooooooooo" already!

Posted by: esme at November 24, 2009 1:35 AM

Mmmmmm. Castle was full of Fillion-y goodness tonight.

I'm starting to hope this is the last season for House. It's not even making sense any more. The characters are all completely off from what they used to be and it's obvious the only reason characters are doing this things they are is because the scripts say they have to. House is insufferable, and I was impressed they seemed to be trying to soften him up in the first few episodes. Now he's gone completely round the bend. Cuddy and Lucas? Come ON! That matchup is just weird. And Chase re-joining the team for really no reason at all was just stupid. Same with Cameron leaving Chase. Chase killed a guy that was planning to commit genocide. Was it an ethics breach? Yes. But come on, it wasn't like Chase makes a habit of murdering patients. How many more times is he going to be put in the position of hearing the troubling plans from a dictator? 3-4 more times, tops?

And the guy is a surgeon, why is he doing grunt work for House? Same with 13 and Talp, how are they justifying working for that nut? So they can solve puzzles at the expense of their personal lives?

It's goddamn infuriating this year after having a hell of a promising start to the season. We need Andre Braugher to come back and slap some sense into Greg. Also, Franka Potente needs to return because, well, it's Franka Potente. She makes EVERYTHING better.

Rusty,

I loathe preparing for Christmas AFTER Thanksgiving too. Christmas bears no resemblance whatsoever to anything it was intended to represent. Dickens was the last guy who got it about right.

Well I really really really love Sheldon. I don't think I'd like Big Bang Theory much at all if he wasn't in there.

Posted by: figgy at November 24, 2009 11:00 AM

TylerDFC: I completely agree with you about House. Dr. House has gotten really annoying. You liked him because he was such an ass. Trying to make him nice defeats the purpose of the show. And then having him go nice, but maybe not, cause he is still playing with people, what the fuck? I think they jumped the shark when they had House go crazy. I liked the institutional episodes with Andre Braugher, but that is mostly cause I like Braugher. He played one of my all time favorite characters in the brilliant but under appreciated Homocide: Life on the Street.

Lindsey,
it was, wasn't it? I love it when he goes camp.

Re: "Until Thursday, it’s all about the food."

Correction: It's *always* about the food.

Happy Thanksgiving!
