You Watch It Because I Can't

It’s been a rough weekend for me, because as I’ve mentioned elsewhere the internet and cable at my house has been out. I’ve got a strong suspicion as to what happened and where the problem actually is, but no expertise to fix it. And since my name isn’t actually on the account, I have to wait for my roommate to get back to call for a technician to come out and get us hooked back in. Words cannot describe how ready I am for this to happen, as biking a mile to campus and back to use the internet is not fun. Here’s what the rest of you get to watch tonight:

7:00 p.m.: “60 Minutes” on CBS.

“America’s Funniest Home Videos” on ABC.

“Football Night in America” on NBC (does anyone watch this? If I’m going to watch the game I usually just tune in for … the game. I don’t bother with the hour-long lead-up to the game).

8:00 p.m.: “The Amazing Race” on CBS.

“Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” on ABC. I notice that there’s no regular “Extreme Makeover” on anymore, just like there’s no “The Swan” on anymore. I guess someone figured out that giving women drastic plastic surgery so they could conform to a socially accepted notion of “beauty” might be deemed offensive. Perhaps there is hope for this country.

“The Prisoner” on AMC, first night of this mini series. I’m interested in it, but have no TV so I’ll just hope it ends up on Hulu.

“The Simpsons” on FOX.

8:15 p.m.: “Sunday Night Football: New England Patriots at Indianapolis Colts” on NBC.

8:30 p.m.: “The Cleveland Show” on FOX.

9:00 p.m.: “Curb Your Enthusiasm” on HBO.

“Desperate Housewives” on ABC.

“Dexter” on Showtime.

“Family Guy” on FOX.

“The Prisoner” on AMC.

“Three Rivers” on CBS.

“WWII in HD” on History.

9:30 p.m.: “American Dad” on FOX.

10:00 p.m.: “Californication” on Showtime.

“Cold Case” on CBS.

“Brothers and Sisters” on ABC.

Intern Rusty is a Masters student at the University of Miami. You can learn more about her at Rusty’s Ventures. For those interested, her leg is feeling a lot better and she’s tapering off the Percocet because of the queasiness it causes and because it kills her appetite. She appreciates all of your help though.

I feel ya, Rusty. I really do. Oh the bleak nights when it feels like Timothy Olyphant in "Live Free Or Die Hard" has shut us down. "Did you unplug it and plug it back in? Well that's all *I* know to tell you, let's schedule a service call. Meanwhile it'll fix itself around 5 a.m., but I don't know that".

Waters Of Mars!!!

Jay, I'm so with you. Waters of Mars all the way!

At about 4 this morning I realized it'd be on tonight, and started screaming and jumping around my room. It woke up my neighbor. I didn't care. Then I fell asleep and woke up at 3:15 this afternoon. I took a shower and checked my email. Then it got dark (at about 4...what the hell, Massachusetts). But I revel in the loss of my Sunday because each minute of growing darkness brings me that much closer to my David Tennant-y goodness!

Are you a candelabra?

Posted by: Cindy at November 15, 2009 8:23 PM

So is Venture Bros not on tonight?

Posted by: Optimus Rhyme at November 15, 2009 9:15 PM

I had thought of programming in The Prisoner for tonight, but the clientele are already referred to by numbers so it'd be largely a redundant exercise.

And at the risk of irritating the women (about 45% of the population), I have chosen football. Go Colts (because I hate the damned Patriots).

Posted by: The Wanderer at November 15, 2009 9:40 PM

Go Pats!!!!!
I'm a woman and I'll take football (esp. a game like this) over anything on TV.

Posted by: kooling123 at November 15, 2009 9:50 PM

It's okay, The Wanderer: my best friend and I (both women) are cheering on the Colts. I'm itching for a few good Brady sacks.

Posted by: bonnie at November 15, 2009 10:04 PM

Bonnie (and your best friend): hi. I'm Cody. I don't know you, but I think I like you.

Posted by: Cody at November 15, 2009 10:33 PM

I'd like to become acquainted with the Brady sacks

Posted by: Football Girl at November 15, 2009 11:11 PM

So that Extreme Home Makeover thing that was on tonight was in my town.

That's it, really.

Posted by: Jaci at November 15, 2009 11:18 PM

Not a damn thing to watch at all. I had to watch Deep Impact and goddamn but that was a boring movie. At least Armageddon was hilariously bad.

Posted by: figgy at November 16, 2009 12:03 AM

Sweet merciful CRAP what a game!

Posted by: Cody at November 16, 2009 12:04 AM

Football is stupid. I watched The Addams Family, which was on MTV(?).

This is like the emptiest Pajiba After Dark comment thread ever. Now what am I supposed to obsessively check when I'm up late studying/procrastinating?

Posted by: esme at November 16, 2009 12:55 AM

WTF? I have 'Voyage of the Damned' on BBCA. Where is Water of Mars?

Posted by: Lindsey with an 'e' at November 16, 2009 2:04 AM

Satisfying game, with the Colts pulling it off by one point in the last seconds. Also satisfying in watching that pissy little WATB strip off his headphones and stalk off.

Posted by: The Wanderer at November 16, 2009 2:37 AM

It's all about The Prisoner tonight baybee.

/I have no problem with remakes done right, ya prick

I used to have to walk FOUR MILES when my internet went out in university last year. I woulda killed for a dang bike.

Posted by: vdo86 at November 16, 2009 7:32 AM

Lindsey, Waters of Mars is only on the English BBC. I don't know how long it'll be 'til it's shown on BBCA. Everyone watching it now is either British or pirating it.

(It was amaaaaazing.)

Posted by: Sarah at November 16, 2009 7:32 AM

December 19th, BBCA

Posted by: Cindy at November 16, 2009 7:39 AM

Biking a whole mile? On a bike? Is it up hill or something?

A whole mile?

I know exactly what you mean. I used to live in an apartment where I had to walk across the parking lot to use the internet for free -- what a fucking hassle. I had to buy a house to get away from that completely tits-up deal, and let me tell you, that was completely worth it -- except now I have to work for a living to pay the mortgage. And the internet bill.

I'll trade ya.

I was very disappointed in The Pris6ner(sic). I can't decide if I want to watch the rest or not.

Mild SPOILERS mild SOILERS.

1. I liked that they did some homage to the original series with the jackets of some characters and the tiny cars and the giant white balloons.

2. I liked that they did something different by setting it in a desert instead of an island.

3. I hated the boredom. Drive to the desert, come back, drive to the desert, come back, drive to the desert come back.

4. I kept thinking Gandalf's son was really his gay lover, what with the lipstick and mascara and all.

5. I predicted exactly when the white balloons would show up. (Although I did like the effect in the water.)

6. I just want to take a pin and deflate the lips of "trout lip woman." What is wrong with her lips? It's distracting.

Football Girl: Acquaint yourself with the Brady sacks all you like, but beware: there is some potent sperm in there.

Posted by: bonnie at November 16, 2009 11:26 AM

Thanks guys, I thought they had been advertising it all week on BBCA. Of course, I don't pay close attention and am easily confused.
12/19= Best Day EVER!

Yes, panic moment when I thought "Waters of Mars" was on BBCA last night and I had missed it.

Hmm.... what is this torrent thing I keep hearing about....
