I'd Watch It. I'd Watch It Twice. Even if Flava Flav Was In It.

Good evening, and welcome to the new Pajiba After Dark! Now younger, sexier (no offense to Dustin), and less financially stable. My name is Intern Rusty and I’ll be handling Pajiba After Dark for the forseeable future. I’m super excited to be here and hope you’re all excited to see me! Anyway, on to Sunday Night!

7pm: “America’s Funniest Home Videos” on ABC. I know some of you watch it, so I figured I’d put it out there for you.

8pm: “The Amazing Race” on CBS

“The Simpsons: Treehouse of Horror XX” on FOX. I will probably watch this even though I don’t regularly watch the Simpsons any more, because the Treehouse of Horror episodes tend to be pretty good.

“Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” (in case you’re in the mood to cry at manufactured sentimentality) on ABC

8:15pm: Chicago Bears at Atlanta Falcons on NBC

9pm: “Curb Your Enthusiasm” on HBO

“Dexter” on Showtime.

“Three Rivers” on CBS, which is like a medical drama only about organ transplants? Why bother making a medical drama if you can’t make up increasingly improbable ways for people to end up needing medical care?

9:30pm: “American Dad” on FOX

10pm: “Mad Men” on AMC

“Brothers and Sisters” on ABC

12am: “VENTURE BROTHERS” SEASON 4 PREMIERE ON ADULT SWIM!!!!!

*Dances*

OK, but seriously, as much as I love this show, don’t watch this if you’ve never seen it before. Run out, buy up the other three seasons on DVD, watch all of them, and then go stream the episode on Adult Swim’s website. Honestly, if you miss even one episode, you’re absolutely lost because everything builds off what happened before. There are no stand-alones. But you should go get those DVDs because words can’t accurately describe how awesome this show is. I named my blog after it. I’d marry it if I could.

Intern Rusty is a Masters student at the University of Miami. She currently has four jobs and receives a regular paycheck from 50% of them. You can read about how she’s handling all this over at Rusty’s Ventures. She prefers her bribes in the form of food, alcohol, or Target gift cards.

YESSSS i'm so excited for midnight! i love that show so hard!! i'm still trying to decide if it's the best adult swim show ever... i've been rewatching all the other seasons for months to fill the emptiness in my soul.

Posted by: yeratomato at October 18, 2009 7:09 PM

I hope there's an explanation for the tits on the colonel.

Posted by: Doric at October 18, 2009 7:19 PM

Congrats on the new gig G!

Just want to mention that IFC has a documentary miniseries starting tonight at 9 pm est: "Monty Python: Almost the Truth (the Lawyer's Cut)". Like we don't already have enough DVRing Sunday night.

Posted by: Cindy at October 18, 2009 7:19 PM

I'm watching the Bears game, 'cause I'm masochistic like that, and DVRing ToH. That way I can watch ToH over and over and over and over. I'll be eating tiny candy pumpkins as well.

Posted by: Pinky McLadybits at October 18, 2009 7:45 PM

Like 98% of what the Simpsons have put out in the last, what? Ten Years now? Treehouse of Horrors have become an exercise in frustration and pain. But, I'll be there, like an asshole.

*sigh*

Buuuuut GO TEAM VENTURE! and MOTHERFUCKIN' Brock Sampson, yeah!

Posted by: BarbadoSlim at October 18, 2009 7:52 PM

Ok, so I'll bring you Pajiba After Dark Brazilian Edition.

19:45 - On SBT, Programa Silvio Santos has Ronaldo as special guest.

20:00 - On Band, The Ring of the Nibelung. Yeah. On Record, Gugu will give a house to someone. Live!

20:45 - Fantástico shows the truth about the balloon boy on Globo.

21:00 - On Rede TV, Pânico puts that intruder guy inside the F1 boxes or something like that.

23:15 - On Globo, Norma. This sucks big time. On Band, Amazing Videos.

23:30 - Dr. 90210 on Rede TV, though they call it Dr. Hollywood here. On Band, Canal Livre.

23:55 - Hollywood Homicide on Globo. Never heard of this movie.

00:00 - Knight Rider on Record, but wait, there's something even better... Hot Pranks on SBT! Never watched it, but is getting kind of big. Pranks and hot chicks. You can't go wrong with that.

Rustler! (My new nickname for you. I am determined to make it work.)
Nice to see you on this beat and based on this first P.A.D., bravo!

Posted by: Spender at October 18, 2009 7:56 PM

Wow, I thought they'd give this to Goss, good job, Genny (I know, it's Rusty, but that just sounds too much like a nickname for dudes.)

"Hollywood Homicide on Globo. Never heard of this movie..."

I'll give you the basics:

Han Solo channeling Danny Glover and generic dude who everyone THOUGHT would make it big channeling Michael J Fox, in a Lifetime quality version of "The Hard Way"

It sucks ass.

Posted by: BarbadoSlim at October 18, 2009 8:05 PM

If you're a Venture Brothers fan, go back and watch Big Trouble in Little China. It's awful, yes, but you will see Brock Samson's origins, and that makes it kind of awesome.

Posted by: Jami at October 18, 2009 8:18 PM

I've only seen season one of Venture Bros on DVD. So you guys are saying it'll be worth my time to track down the rest?

Posted by: Daniel Hall at October 18, 2009 8:21 PM

Clearly, I have no interest in this silly little show on Adult Swim. None whatso ever.

Posted by: VentureSister at October 18, 2009 8:24 PM

P.S. @ Daniel Hall: FUCK YES. Do it. Do it now!

Posted by: VentureSister at October 18, 2009 8:27 PM

Hooray for these things (not in order)

Dexter

The Simpsons (I still watch every week with hope even if it hasn't been as good for 5 years and the one two weeks ago featuring Edna Krabappel may have been the worst episode they ever did. It not only had a "The Secret" it had a Barry Bonds joke and it was about kids and cell phones. I'm guessing this was a script from 2006 that someone found in a desk drawer)

Venture Brothers

Intern Rusty - I knew her as just Rusty, is there some type of uniform Dustin makes you wear? Is it the Elastigirl one? I adore you despite your recipe for makeshift Pad Thai.

The Dodgers/Phillies game....should be 20 degrees and an awesome game. I am from L.A. but rooting for the Phils. Los Angeles fans in any sport are Grade A jackasses.

Posted by: Rubble44 at October 18, 2009 8:29 PM

Big Trouble in China is not awful, it's awesome. Watch it. Watch it twice. Watch it because it's Kurt Russell at his ham-fisted best.

Posted by: Brenton at October 18, 2009 8:43 PM

Little China, damnit! Two comments I've posted on this site and both with mistakes.

Posted by: Brenton at October 18, 2009 8:44 PM

Rubble 44, there's no uniform. At least not that I've heard about. Not like it could be enforced anyway, I think I'm the only Pajiban in the Miami area so it's not like I'm supervised.

My dad had me watch Big Trouble in Little China when I was like… 11? But I don't remember much about it. On the Netflix list it goes!

Posted by: Intern Rusty at October 18, 2009 9:00 PM

WTF is with the 'Dog/Human Hybrid' ad? It's seriously freaking me out.

Posted by: Jeni at October 18, 2009 9:24 PM

My cable company stole adult swim from me months ago (well, actually all of cartoon network, as if there were anything other than adult swim on the network.)

The channel is only broadcast in digital cable now, and of course, I don't have a digital cable box, so I get no adult swim.

I'm bitter.

Thanks Comcast.

ZOMG I'M SO EXCITED ABOUT VENTURE BROS TONIGHT.!!11!1

Rusty's totally right about watching them all, though. It's like Arrested Development in that way.

"P.S. @ Daniel Hall: FUCK YES. Do it. Do it now!"

Posted by: VentureSister at October 18, 2009 8:27 PM

GAH! I'm at work!

Can I do it on my lunch break?!

Posted by: Daniel Hall at October 18, 2009 9:46 PM

The boyfriend got me hooked on Venture Bros. over the summer. Problem is, we've only made it through the first season, even though he owns the second as well (and is planning on buying the third in the near future). This means that I can't really watch the premiere tonight, even though I really want to, because I know that I won't really understand anything that's happening. Really.

Sigh.

Posted by: Bethany at October 18, 2009 9:51 PM

i finally got to watch the pats/titans game .... marry me, tom brady!!!

they are finally (sort of) back!!!

Posted by: vizza at October 18, 2009 9:52 PM

Doric-
Brock was sent to kill the general because they thought he had gone rouge like "Apocalypse Now" and it turned out he just wanted a sex change. I don't remember the episode name or number, but it explained it pretty well in my memory.

Posted by: Diablo at October 18, 2009 9:53 PM

Intern Rusty! Awesome!!

I wish VBros was on earlier than midnight. I'm an old lady, I can't stay up that late! Although, I may be tonight, since I still need to write at least a page and a half of a paper that's due tomorrow night. Curse my sister for inviting me over for dinner! No, wait, curse this class for expecting me to do work. Yes, that's better.

Posted by: Anna von Beaverplatz at October 18, 2009 10:18 PM

wait, i thought the venture boys died at the end of the 1st season, so i quit watching. i figured they were going to replace them with sarah chalke or something so i gave up. are you saying it's still tight?

also, if it please the court, was that a spoiler?
if so, everybody who hasn't seen it, go back and disremember what i said. no, don't re-read it. just, just go away. from here. gah!

Posted by: gp at October 18, 2009 10:21 PM

gp, giving nothing away, it is indeed still "tight", as you say. Pick up Season 2, it's hysterical and the first episode will explain how that works.

Diablo, that would be Assassinanny 911. I couldn't figure out if the original poster was referring to Colonel Hunter Gathers or Colonel Gentleman. Because the former has tits because of sex change surgery, the latter has "bitch tits" because of diabetes.

Posted by: Intern Rusty at October 18, 2009 10:28 PM

@gp
heh no spoilers and no cheap replacements... the show always finds ways to explain away even the most random events in the most awesome ways. even hunters tits are explained. =D
indeed, it is teh tightness.

Posted by: yeratomato at October 18, 2009 11:04 PM

Oh, words cannot express my unbridled enthusiasm for Venture Bros. Sweet Godtopus almighty.

Posted by: Venture82 at October 19, 2009 12:49 AM

no californication this week?

Posted by: arrrghzi at October 19, 2009 12:51 AM

Flav just called. Said Rustler was dissin' his ass on somethin' called Pajiba. I don't EVEN know whut up wit' at shit. Fuck a BUNCHA that, y'all.
I'ma hav'ta fuck y'alls shit up.

Posted by: Spender at October 19, 2009 2:24 AM

So I'm watching the Venture Bros premier, and without giving anything away, I'm getting serious deja vou. Anybody else know what I'm talking about? I'm a little POd

Posted by: the_wakeful at October 19, 2009 3:33 AM

NM, figured it out. Apparently Adult Swim fucked all us west-coasters. The Eastern half of the country got to watch the whole episode. Damn you Adult Swim...DAMN YOOOOOOOOU

Posted by: the_wakeful at October 19, 2009 3:42 AM

Ok, huuuuge Venture Bros fan here, and how long was the wait for this premier? like forever.

I would also add that a stage name of mine is indeed Vinnie Venture, and even tho it predates this great cartoon I like to think of that persona as part of the family.

Brock Samson is the best Patrick Warburton character ever, and this show is pure brilliance for the fanboys and comics nerds and cartoon geeks and non-nerds alike

Posted by: VinKong at October 19, 2009 10:23 AM

TK must be asleep at the wheel for letting a slight on "Big Trouble in Little China" go unaddressed so I'll take point. Calling it "horrible" is like saying puppies are repulsive and not good for snuggling: an outrageous lie and both libel and slander at the same time, despite being a written insult. To the Hell Where People Are Skinned Alive with you!

Posted by: TylerDFC at October 19, 2009 10:33 AM

I had no idea that the Venture Bros started up again last night. Thank Godtopus for Tivo (assuming it fulfilled it's duty and captured it for me).

Posted by: Drake at October 19, 2009 11:31 AM

FUCKING VENTURE BROTHERS Y'ALL!

Posted by: hater from siloam springs at October 19, 2009 12:32 PM

The Venture Brothers is the only must watch for me on television anymore. I don't know why, but for some reason, they just ran the first half of the episode twice last night. I don't know if it was some kind of screw-up or some sick joke by Adult Swim, but I just about threw my TiVo out the window!

Posted by: Leftylad at October 19, 2009 6:04 PM

My boyfriend texted me not five minutes ago to say that we missed the premiere. I

Posted by: LowSlash at October 19, 2009 7:35 PM

There are tons of stand alone Venture Bros episodes, like, the whole first season. It is absolutely the best show on TV right now though, maybe ever.
