Appointment Television

I've thought in recent weeks about the concept of appointment TV, sort of because I've been routinely missing "Glee" in order to go to a local trivia night. I don't have DVR (I know, right? I also still use primitively shaped rocks as tools.) so I do have to make the choice between watching things live or going out. I also have to watch all the commercials, but that's another story for a different day. With "Glee" I don't have too much of a problem because it's always on Hulu, and that's to the internet that's becoming more common, but there's still something about getting the chance to watch your favorite show when it first airs. So, what's your appointment TV show? Do you have one at all or do you value watching shows commercial free over watching them live? Also; HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD! Here's your Tuesday night TV:

8:00pm: "30 for 30" on ESPN

"Hip Hop Awards '10" on BET

"The Biggest Loser" on NBC

"Ray Charles' America" on Bio. OK, this is one of those things that always bugs me because I thought that when you made a singular possessive with a name that ended in 's' you added the apostrophe 's' to the end anyway. I went to Catholic school briefly and the example they always used was that Jesus' referred to something belonging to ALL the people named Jesus but Jesus's belonged to just the one Jesus. So I read this title as the America of all the people named Ray Charles. I'm sure someone out there knows what the story is on this one, so please enlighten me.

"Glee" on Fox

"Melissa and Joey" on ABC Family

"NCIS" on CBS

"No Ordinary Family" on ABC

"One Tree Hill" on The CW

"MLB Division Series: Texas Rangers at Tampa Bay Rays" on TBS

9:00pm: "19 Kids and Counting" on TLC

"Carlos" on Sundance

"Dancing With the Stars" on ABC

"Flipping Out" on Bravo. Fourth season finale.

"I'm Pregnant And..." on Health. This week it's cancer.

"Life Unexpected" on The CW

"NCIS: Los Angeles" on CBS

"God in America" on PBS

"Private Chefs of Beverly Hills" on Food Network. Second season premiere.

"Stargate Universe" on SyFy

"Swords: Life on the Line" on Discovery. Second season finale.

"Raising Hope" on Fox

9:30pm: "Running Wilde" on Fox

10:00pm: "Being Terry Kennedy" on BET. Series premiere.

"Billy the Exterminator" on A&E. If the previews I saw last night are accurate (and as an avid "Hoarders" viewer, I can tell you that A&E is NOT the most honest with their ads) this episode involves a whole pile of snakes. I don't mind snakes, but I know that's like a thing for people out there like spiders and that word for a woman's underwear that starts with a "p" are for some others of you.

"Caprica" on SyFy

"Chopped" on Food Network

"Come Dine With Me" on BBCA

"Crimes of Passion" on WE

"The Good Wife" on CBS

"House of Glam" on Oxygen

"The Little Couple" on TLC. Returns from hiatus.

"Nick Swardson's Pretend Time" on Comedy Central. Series premiere. Someone gave me shit on yesterday's column for not mentioning the premiere of this show... yesterday. So, it's here now, for all of you who were so eager for it that you forgot which day it came on.

"Parenthood" on NBC

"Rehab: Party at the Hard Rock Hotel" on TruTV

"Sons of Anarchy" on FX

"Teen mom" on MTV. 90 minute second season finale.

"Detroit 187" on ABC

10:30pm: "The Little Couple" on TLC

"Parking Wars" on A&E. Fourth season premiere.

Late Night Listings

"The Late Show with David Letterman" on CBS featuring Matt Damon and My Morning Jacket
