I Wanna Be in a Broadway Musical Now! George Takei's Spider-Man Audition

Somewhere, Bono is crying.

Even though this isn’t a real audition, rather a sly advertisement for George Takei’s upcoming appearance in Allegiance, who among us wouldn’t love to see this ridiculous production? At this point, it would have a better chance of making money than the lavish mess that is Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark. Though he is, as George puts it, “a bit mature” (73!) for the role, I’ll be damned if he isn’t fairly spry and Godtopus knows his sense of humor is intact:

Come on Broadway, how about a production of Spider-Man: The Later Years? Peter and a bunch of his retirement home cohorts could break out and handle the over-60 criminal crowd. Or at least let him have a part in the next Indy installment…

Yeah because if I had a musical that was universally panned but was grossing $1.2 million a week in previews and people were still lining up to give me their cash, crying is the first thing that would come to mind.

Takei is the man. He's on the Stern Show occasionally (and all this week, actually) and is incredible every time. And every revealing.

George Takei is always the bomb. he needs to do a cage match or dance off or something with Betty White. Oooh, they could have a bawdy contest. 15 grueling rounds that end in a wary truce.

Good God, idleprimate. You've gotta warn a girl to SWALLOW before she sprays her newly-replaced keyboard with lukewarm tea.

I would SO pay good money to see Betty vs. George.

That's quite the moose knuckle he's sporting there. Good packaging.
