Big Glossy Shiny Gloss-Covered Entertainment

If you didn’t watch the Emmy’s last night — good on ya, you didn’t miss much (five of the top six awards went to the exact same winners as last year, with only Toni Collette shaking shit up in the Best Comedy Actress category). But you did miss Dr. Horrible cutting into the broadcast when the boring tax-talking guys came out to talk about their boring vote-gathering business. It didn’t take long for the clip to land on the interwebs, of course, so if you missed it last night, you can watch it now.

I did not watch the Emmys, because it was Sunday, and football was on. If it weren't for Preston & Steve's discussion this morning (the Michael Emerson acceptance speech waspretty creepy) I wouldn't have even known they were on last night.

Also, I have not yet seen Dr. Horrible. I know. I suck.

Yayyyy.
And Nicole, get on that. You don't want to be subject to Lainey's shunning. It looked brutal.

Nicole, Preston and Steve had me HOWLING over the Emerson speech.

I wouldn't mind being the meat in a NPH/Fillion sammich. But NPH has to wear the goggles.

I watched part of the Emmys, but NPH or no, I just didn't care. At all. Not even a little bit. They award the same time tested shows and people year after year with maybe one or two upsets thrown in for the hell of it and act like it's an objective measure of quality.

And the entire Music Industry isn't collapsing. Just record companies, which I never really wanted to work at anyway.

That was cute, but it took forever for me to get it to come up.

Nicole, you should watch Dr. Horrible. The tunes are catchy and it's just fun.

But NPH has to wear the goggles.

And Fillion wears the gloves. They're fashionable and functional.

I'm actually kind of afraid that Lainey will call me at work, yell at me, and hang up on me. She's scary. (And awesome. And really pretty. And awesome.)

Posted by: Nicole at September 21, 2009 11:08 AM

Even though I squee for NPH, I couldn't muster up much give-a-crap for the Emmy's. Since we live in the era of YouTube I know that I'll be able to catch all the interesting bits online the next day.

And while we're talking about Dr. Horrible, I'll admit that I haven't seen it either. But it is in my Netflix queue.

[unshun] I pity those of you who haven't given yourselves over to Dr. Horrible and Captain Hammer. Pity. I will not be hanging up on anyone else. I'll just continue to shun. It's less work and fits better with my inherent laziness. Awesome & pretty laziness... [re-shun]

See, this is why I don't need to watch the Emmys, I get all the info I need the next day from Pajiba. Thanks Seth!

Posted by: tamatha at September 21, 2009 12:36 PM

Oh, and Lainey, no need to shun me. Not only did I see it when it came out originally on the interwebs, but I also own the DVD. So, good news, you and I can be besties!

Posted by: tamatha at September 21, 2009 12:39 PM

One word:

Cute!

stardust savant:
Why are you queuing Dr. Horrible when it's ready for the watching on Hulu? I own the DVD and I still watch it on Hulu (at work).

FYI: Even if you watch the Hulu version, keep the DVD queued because Commentary: The Musical is amazingly awesome.

Awesome!
But I have to say it - what the hell kind of accent was Fillion going for, there? I don't recall Captain Hammer being all transatlantic.
