Broad City's Abbi & Ilana Address the Issues So Many Women Have With Porn

It’s no secret that many, many women don’t enjoy your average porn flick. (And many of course do! Diff’rent strokes and all, this isn’t a judgement call on either end.) The end result of so many of us having an adverse reaction to porn is that, as a generalization, women are assumed to have less of a sexual appetite, or to be more reserved sexually, when in reality there’s a whole plethora of reasons for those feelings. Some of them have to do with feeling like women are used as props or rage outlets or— you know what? Never mind. There is absolutely nothing I could say about the things so many women feel about porn that would be a better description than the one Ilana gave us on this week’s Broad City. See, Ilana (whom no one could ever accuse of being reserved or prudish) has a lot of issues with traditional porn, too.

But this is Ilana, and while she has worked around her issues to find very specific themes she enjoys, not all of us have taken the time to do this, and have instead just written off the entire medium.

Preach, women. Preach.
