Most of you probably already know that on Saturday morning, Tracy Morgan was involved in a tragic traffic accident when the driver of a Walmart tractor-trailer failed to observe slowing traffic ahead and struck the Mercedes limo bus that Morgan, Ardie Fuqua, Harris Stanton, Jeffrey Millea and James McNair (stage name Jimmy Mack) were riding in. McNair suffered fatal injuries, while Stanton and Millea, like Morgan, suffered serious injuries when the car rotated and overturned after being hit.

Morgan suffered broken ribs, a broken nose, a broken leg and a broken femur. Yesterday, he had surgery to repair his broken leg, and, according to his publicist, began to show signs of responsiveness.

His rep Lewis Kay offered this statement: “While Tracy remains in critical condition, he has been more responsive today, which is an incredibly encouraging sign.”

Morgan is expected to remain in the hospital for several weeks. One report from a questionable source also suggested that Morgan may have to have his leg amputated.

Meanwhile, the truck driver — facing one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto — turned himself in and was released on $50,000 bail. There are some suggestions that he may missed signs of slowing traffic because he was dozing. Walmart is prepared to take full responsibility for the crash.

This is what the horrific scene looked like after the accident:
