Sparkling On and Off the Ice

2014 Olympic Winter Games on NBC at 8:00pm ET. Tonight we get a double-header in freestyle skiing with both men’s ski cross and women’s halfpipe. We also have the conclusion of women’s figure skating, which means the end of the wonderful stream of Fashion! coming out of Johnny Weir’s instagram account. And yes, when you are that aggressive about it, the word gets a proper-noun capital and an exclamation point.

Inside the Actor’s Studio: Matthew McConaughey on Bravo at 8:00pm ET. On one hand, I suppose if anyone remembers Contact it’s not hard to see where this McConaussance has come from. He did seem to want to be a serious actor at some point before the rom-com people grabbed a hold of him. Still, his body of work the last few years is very impressive in light of the fact that he once told Kate Hudson to refer to his member as “Krull the Warrior King.”

The Taste on ABC at 8:00pm ET.

Rake on Fox at 9:00pm ET.

Killer Karaoke on TruTV at 10:00pm ET. First season winter premiere. Everyone’s favorite karaoke show where they also torture the singers is back!

Genevieve Burgess has full and sincere trust in Johnny Weir’s commitment to sparkle motion.

Skating, but now no more Anthony Bourdain in my TV. That's the season finale for "The Taste." No more Bourdain until CNN feels good and goddamn ready.

My mom took a cooking class from Anthony Bourdain. Said he was a pretty cool dude.

I definitely get that. I want to go to Eastern Europe and drink some cheap vodka with him then see what kind of shit we can blow up.

  • Thank god for DVRs. I've been recording the skating programs instead of watching the primetime coverage so I can get my fill of Johnny Weir & Tara Lipinski's fantastic commentary. I'm really sad to see them go!

I love that Johnny Weir and I have basically the same taste in jewels.
