Oh, God, So Much Potential Second-Hand Embarrassment
The Quest on ABC at 8:00pm ET. Series premiere. This is billed as a “fantasy/reality series” but it sounds like someone tried to make a real life RPG. Everything is scripted around the participants, but the contestants (called paladins because of course they are) are free to act or react as they choose. Contestants will have a series of competitions or “quests” that will determine who is the true hero who can save the kingdom of “Everealm.” Given the kind of budgets most reality shows have, I don’t think this will be as epic as they’d like it to be, but definitely a few steps up from LARP-ing.
Dominion on SyFy at 9:00pm ET.
Rectify on Sundance at 9:00pm ET.
The Honorable Woman on Sundance at 10:00pm ET. Original mini-series premiere. This is another British series, a spy thriller that began airing on BBC Two earlier this month. It stars Maggie Gyllenhaal as an Anglo-Israeli businesswoman who just became the head of her family’s business after her brother suddenly gave up control.
Married on FX at 10:00pm ET.
Genevieve Burgess has virtually no ability to suspend disbelief for these kinds of things, so she’d be a terrible candidate for ‘The Quest’.
