Nothing Good Ever Comes of Robots That Look Like People. Nothing.

Dancing With the Stars on ABC at 8:00pm ET. 24th season premiere. One of the “Stars” this season is Heather Morris of Glee, who was a backup dancer for Beyoncé before she became an actress. So I’m going to go ahead and guess that she will win this season, given that she was a professional dancer for a not-insignificant period of time.

Supergirl on The CW at 8:00pm ET.

Jane the Virgin on The CW at 9:00pm ET.

Humans on AMC at 10:00pm ET. Two-hour second season finale. One of the things that Interstellar did that I really enjoyed was making their robots have human-like personalities but look entirely inorganic. Boston Dynamics gets this too, sure their robots look scary, but I think it’s great to get away from the idea that the goal of robots is to replicate people. The goal of robots is whatever their purpose is, and sometimes a human form is not the best way to achieve that. Of course, when they don’t look like people it’s harder to have sex with them and, for TV concerns, cast regular people to play the robots to save lots of money on your FX budget.

Taken on NBC at 10:00pm ET.
