I've Found My New Life Coaches

Arrow on The CW at 8:00pm ET.

Nature: Snow Monkeys on PBS at 8:00pm ET. I’m always so jealous of these monkeys, because it seems like they spend their whole lives sitting in hot springs. While I enjoy higher thinking abilities, a deeper understanding of the world and my place in it, and the technological advantages offered by being a higher order of primate, there are days when I might trade it all to sit in a hot bath with a bunch of other monkeys picking bugs out of my hair. Seems relaxing.

Dual Survival on Discovery at 9:00pm ET. Fourth season premiere.

The Americans on FX at 10:00pm ET.

Marooned on Discovery at 10:00pm ET. Series premiere. This is a new series involving a guy trying to survive in the wilderness with no food, water, or equipment. So, exactly like Survivorman but I guess with a different host? Also, it reads like they’re taking a more “extreme” bent with it, because of course they are.

Genevieve Burgess thinks the monkeys might be smarter than we give them credit for.

Awww, is that Snow Monkey show new? There is a lady in Dilley, Texas with a ranch full of Japanese Snow Monkey's that she rescued about 35 years ago. My family used to go out there and volunteer as a kid. They are about the coolest animals ever! I will never forget when she tranqued an older male who needed surgery and put him in my lap, he was almost out and he threw his arm over my shoulder and snuggled into my neck. It's one of my clearest childhood memories.

Not to mention that the hot tubs are restricted to high-status females and their infant offspring. Japanese Macaques are matrilineal.

And just think: while you were sitting in the hot spring with all your friends, engaging in mutual grooming, watching the other monkeys cuddle their precious lil' babies, and maybe even cuddling one of your own, you wouldn't spare a single thought for idiot yahoos getting bugbit in whatever godforsaken wilderness they'd been dumped in.

    WHO!?

Who are the %$#@#$ who watch these "survivor" shows?!

  • BWeaves

The same guys who are partying tonight because they can take their guns into churches in Georgia.

But not courthouses or the capital. For some reason, people in those buildings think they might be targets.

  • amberdragonfly

Oh, God, I don't even want to think about targets today. I dropped my daughter at school this morning and almost had a panice atttack. There is a threat of mass violence in a San Antonio elementary school today. Every campus has armed police officers. Ugh.

    !!!!
    ????

  • Sara_Tonin00

That is truly awful. I don't even think I'd be able to drop a kid off at school under those conditions.

I swear, I really wouldn't WANT to home school my kids, but the world out there is seriously terrifying some time. (I must concede I am a person who would move out of NYC to raise children)

  • e jerry powell

Hey, you can drop your kids off at Laura Bennett's place...

  • amberdragonfly

It's really scary, but she goes to a charter school, which is not in the district the threats were made against, but ALL of the local elementary schools are on high alert. I was up all night agonizing over it. Just ask my ex...I woke him up at 3am demanding to know where he stood. I'm on my fifth cup of coffee and I cannot wait to go pick her up and give her a giant hug. I haven't done a single bit of work today, either, so I'm spending my day lurking on pajiba.
