5 Shows After Dark: Has the Blacklister Become the Blacklistee?

Almost Human on Fox at 8:00pm ET. I get the sense I’m enjoying the actors on this show more than I’m actually enjoying the show, but for now that works for me.

How I Met Your Mother on CBS at 8:00pm ET.

The Battle of Amfar on HBO at 9:00pm ET. This is a documentary about the creation of amFAR (American Foundation for AIDS Research) in 1981, which combined the efforts of research scientist Dr.Mathilde Krim and Elizabeth Taylor.

Best Funeral Ever on TLC at 10:00pm ET. Series premiere. Seriously, though, who do we appeal to to get TLC to drop the word “learning” from their name? There has to be something we can do about this.

The Blacklist on NBC at 10:01pm ET. First season fall finale.

Genevieve Burgess would also like to talk to someone about forcing A&E to take the word “Arts” out of their name.

You NFL fans in Seattle have got to be feeling pretty good about your team right about now.

    TLC: Totally Laughable Crap

Well it finally happened. And you captured proof no less. Megan Boone got out acted by a bench.

Hell, Megan Boone was out-acted by a nail this last episode. Megan Boone was out-acted by one of Alan Alda's eyebrows, too.

If we're gonna go there, Parminder Nagra got about three minutes of screen time and out-acted Megan Boone in the first five seconds. All of the grey hair on Jane Alexander's aged head out-acted Megan Boone, and that was with hairspray.

I'm beaming right now, just for the fact that some else gets it =)

  • koko temur

Oh no, man, im right there with you. My *shrug* about her in the premier was turned to full blown hatred within only few weeks. Well done there, bitchy mc'wooden.

    But still, the Spader...

Maybe they can get one of those other nondescript brunettes to recast.

  • koko temur

Spader keeps me watching, but hating myself for it..

  • Skip Best Funeral Ever and go watch Undertaking Betty on Netflix instant. You'll actually enjoy it instead of cringing.

TLC has been "TLC" since 1992, when they officially changed their name from "The Learning Channel." Given their predilection for programming about fringe communities ("Buying Naked" -- nudists, "Extreme Cougar Wives"), communities with anti-technology and anti-modernist stances ("Breaking the Faith," "Breaking Amish"), and down-home types ("Here Comes Honey Boo Boo"), I figured TLC stands for "Trolls, Luddites and Countryfolk."

Just TLC? Discovery Networks isn't doing so well by Animal Planet or Science Channel either. At least Science can play highbrow between Morgan Freeman and James Woods now, but there is no excuse for "Hillbillly Handfishin'."
