A Kinder, Gentler Huey Freeman?

Dancing With the Stars on ABC at 8:00pm ET. Shockingly, the two gold-medalist ice dancers are still leading the competition. I never would have guessed.

The Following on Fox at 9:00pm ET.

Archer: Archer Vice on FX at 10:00pm ET. Fifth season finale.

RuPaul’s Drag Race on Logo at 10:00pm ET.

The Boondocks on Adult Swim at 10:30pm Et. Fourth season premiere. While I might otherwise enjoy the return of the most socially uncomfortable TV show in history, I can’t get too excited because the series creator, Aaron McGruder, is not involved in this season. A lot of ink (and type) has been dedicated to assuring fans that McGruder’s departure won’t affect the tone of the show, but I find it hard to believe that anyone else will be able to manage the razor’s edge that McGruder took to standard cultural sensibilities. A razor’s edge that has been carefully honed since the late-90’s when I began reading The Boondocks as a comic strip. I suspect there will still be a lot of “offensive” humor, but I doubt it will have the same blistering intellectual rage behind it. Pity. McGruder does have a new show in production for Adult Swim called Black Jesus about Jesus living in modern-day Compton. It premieres later this year.

Genevieve Burgess has always been made better by the kind of discomfort Huey brings to her life.

I always thought The Boondocks' was a hoot, both as a comic strip and a cartoon. It was well-drawn and funny, something that the comics page in the newspaper and Adult Swim never have enough of.

So now they don't rag on Vivica Fox and Queen Latifah as much, I guess.

Has anyone alerted Megyn Kelly to Black Jesus?

Let me get on that. Just a second.

I liked the Boondocks strip, but when the show first started I couldn't get into it. They are definitely heavy on the advertisiing in NYC though.

I'm still trying to penetrate the shell of it. McGruder has been a difficult approach for me, and I liked the strip a lot.

I loved the strip, but had a complicated relationship with the show. Sometimes I outright loved it, and sometimes it was so in-my-face that I cringed continually. Uncle Ruckus, I'm looking at you.

Still, I'm glad the show is back. It's subversive, and we need more of that.

my Aunty Sienna recently got a stunning red
Nissan Maxima by working part time online... find out here now CashFig.ℂom

Come on, now. Your Aunt Sienna drives the same 1979 Maxima that she's had since she bought it used in 1996. Damned thing must have, what, 300,000 miles now? More rust than car, so I suppose the "red" part is technically true. And don't get me started on her shiftless ways; why, if she had even a part-time job, she could start to pay me back. Well, me and the rest of the damned town.

You see your Aunt Sienna, you tell her to get a job, you hear me? None of your internet fairytales.
