5 Shows After Dark: HBO Gets Funny Looking Again. More So'n Most People Even.

“Sunday Night Football” on NBC at 8:20pm ET. For really real this time, none of that “Thursday” nonsense.

“Boardwalk Empire” on HBO at 9:00pm ET. Fourth season premiere. For a little while I was spending time as an extra in New York, and I found out that every extra with a mustache gets called to work on this show. All of them. So, if you’re looking for a way to break into an incredibly poorly paid and very boring arm of show business, there’s your angle.

“Breaking Bad” on AMC at 9:00pm ET.

“Dexter” on Showtime at 9:00pm ET. This is still limping along? I’m waiting for the internet to develop a “euthanasia” option for TV shows. Like, once they get a certain percentage of viewers (and they’d have to be genuine viewers, I guess you could do a little quiz to make sure) to vote that the show should just end, that’s what happens. No, “We’ve started a two season arc that will end with the series finale” or even “we’re out at the end of the coming season” just take it off the air and write up how it would have ended if the writers even have the vaguest idea. I have a sinking feeling that “Sons of Anarchy” fans may want that option starting sometime this coming season.

“The Newsroom” on HBO at 10:00pm ET.

Genevieve Burgess can think of more than a few shows that should have been taken out behind the barn long before the actually aired their last episode.

Well, it was the 1920's and such things were fashionable then.

I think that the "pull the plug" internet option would be exercised on "True Blood" about now.
