5 Shows After Dark: I Woulda Done It Too

Sunday Night Football: San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks on NBC at 8:20pm ET.

Boardwalk Empire on HBO at 9:00pm ET.

Breaking Bad on AMC at 9:00pm ET. I got to meet one of the actors from the show this past week as Lavelle Crawford (Huell) visited my company. He is hilarious, and I’m sure I would have been way more excited about the visit if I actually watched the show regularly instead of experiencing it as an oral tradition thanks to my coworkers discuss the show in detail every Monday morning. (I’ll get around to it.) (Maybe.)

Miss America 2014 on ABC at 9:00pm ET. Normally, I wouldn’t assume any of you would be interested in something like this, except that this year’s Miss Kansas is a tattooed Army dentist who speaks Chinese and is an avid outdoors-woman whose talent was going to be archery until she found out the rules forbid it. Here’s her official pageant page, unless you’ve already seen one of the several dozen columns about her that all seem to mention her tattoos more than her professional and academic accomplishments.

The Newsroom on HBO at 10:00pm ET. Second season finale.

Genevieve Burgess had to send her laptop to the computer hospital, so this entire week’s worth of columns was written on Sunday from her parent’s computer. Enjoy whatever unintentional hilarity may happen.

Oh, honey. Miss America was an exercise in masochism to watch.

The gay in me makes me watch these things, being friends with three girls who made it to Atlantic City over the years (and having been peripheral to two other pageant campaigns with other friends alongside my ex). Even with that, last night almost made me ashamed to be gay.

  • Whatever happens in the Seahawks/Niners game, it still can't compare with the sheer spectacle that was the last two minutes of the Vikings/Bears game. The way the Vikings threw away the lead there? That was comedy gold. And the last thirty seconds, where they allow a touchdown, the extra point and then fumble the return and give Chicago the ball back? That was magic. MAGIC, I tells ya.

As much as I enjoyed watching the Pack beat the Redskins like they owed money, I don't think I enjoyed that entire game as much as I enjoyed the last two minutes of the Vikings/Bears game. I may -still- have an erection.

OH GOD, Breaking Bad. You're going to give me a stroke before you're through with me.

  • Doyle

How can you justify being a writer on a TV blog if you've never seen breaking bad?

  • Despite what the Internet may have led you to believe, there are other shows on television.

  • Erm

You mentioned her tattoos first also.

Yay! I didn't know they made another series after Foyle retired.

  • BWeaves

Me, either. Apparently, he's been recruited by MI5 to foil the Soviets during the cold war now.
