5 Shows After Dark: Tiny Dancers

"2012 Olympic Summer Games" on NBC at 8:00pm ET.

"Bunheads" on ABC Family at 9:00pm ET.

"Chicagolicious" on Style at 9:00pm ET. This is just bewildering to me. Presumably they're building off the "Jerseylicious" model, but I wasn't aware that Chicago had a particular "style" that was recognizable as such whereas there is definitely such a style (or stereotype) that represents "New Jersey" to a great many people. Well, aside from Chicago style pizza.

"Off the Hook: Extreme Catches" on Discovery at 9:00pm ET. Series premiere. When Discovery tries to make "cool" titles for their series it's like when your chemistry teacher tried to make "hip" analogies about the way elements reacted to each other to form molecule "cliques", which was one of those words that I always heard adults use when talking about teenagers and their groups but never heard any actual teenagers use it themselves. Anyway, they're catching sailfish tonight probably because they look extra cool when mounted on a wall.

"Top Gear" on BBCA at 9:00pm ET.

Genevieve Burgess hates summer television just as much as it hates her.

Comments Are Welcome, Bigots and Trolls Are Not

  • From the opening of Square Pegs (1982-83) as spoken by the two teenage leads:

Lauren: "Listen. I've got this whole high school thing psyched out. It all breaks down into cliques."
    Patty: "Cliques?"
Lauren: "Yeah, you know. Cliques. Little in-groups of different
kids. All we have to do is click with the right clique, and we can
finally have a social life that's worthy of us."
Patty: "No way! Not even with cleavage."
Lauren: "I tell you, this year we're going to be popular."
    Patty: "Yeah?"
Lauren: "Yeah. Even if it kills us."

So at least one teenager used the word "clique." [Thank you Wikipedia for the quote]

  • Yes, not a lot of people appreciate that the teen cast of Square Pegs wrote their own lines...

Been watching the olympics here and there. Shite coverage as expected, but basically everyone everywhere should be pissed about Shin A Lam. She needs to be given a shot to compete for a Gold Medal. She was beyond screwed. I feel so bad for her/South Korea. And I'm a bit of a dick.

  • John W

I'm pretty sure that Chicago show is just going to ape the SNL skit featuring George Wendt. See how many times they say "Da Bears."

  • Bunheads went off the rails last ep. Doneso.

  • BarbadoSlim

So Tiny Dancers ISN'T about dancing midgets?

  • Groundloop

Midgets aren't tiny so much as they are wee. You want a tiny dancer? Think Tinkerbell, that cock teasing bitch.

  • BarbadoSlim

I see Im not the only who got played that slut.

  • lowercase_ryan

why the fuck don't I have a network? Everyone else has a network, I should have a network.

  • thaneofmemphis

    Hold me closer, Tony Danza.

The Windy City does indeed have a "Chicagolicious" flavor to it. Unfortunately, it originates from Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle".

    Bunheads yay!
