5 Shows After Dark: Sometimes a Spoiled Brat is Just a Spoiled Brat

“Falling Skies” on TNT at 9:00pm ET. Second season premiere. Watch Dr.Carter the Librarian battle aliens! Again, some more.

“The Killing” on AMC at 9:00pm ET. Second season finale. Will anything be resolved tonight or is it more of people standing around in the rain staring at things? That seemed to be a lot of the first season.

“Mythbusters” on Discovery at 9:00pm ET. 10th season finale.

“The Borgias” on Showtime at 10:00pm ET. Second season finale.

“Girls” on HBO at 10:00pm ET. First season finale. I know a lot of people have some very strong opinions on this show, but the clips I’ve seen haven’t really swayed me one way or the other and since I don’t have HBO I haven’t been able to further evaluate the show. What I can evaluate is people acting like this show “says something” about all women ever, or even all women of the same age as the show’s stars. It doesn’t. It’s a TV show, not a documentary. It says as much about women in their early to mid-20s as “Justified” says about the personality and motivations of the average US Marshall.

    "Series finale"? What the fuck? Seemed like we just started arguing last week about whether the show sucked or not.

    Time moves pretty fucking fast once you pass 50, left me tell you. I only have another 25 years to go before the hot young chicks won't look at me anymore ...

    Another misconception about the show "Girls" is that not liking it says something about the viewer's opinions on women in their early to mid-20's. Just because a few sexist jack-wagons made lots of noise early on doesn't mean that everyone who doesn't like "Girls" feels that way. Some of us just aren't laughing

    I really wish more people would watch "The Borgias" since it has matured into a truly great show this second season. Here's hoping for next year!

    I love GIRLS. Durham has a wonderfully unique voice & cutting wit. Give it a shot. If you have a friend with HBO, see if they'll watch a few episodes via HBOGO. I think it will win you over!

  • I like The Killing and I don't really care if they ever resolve the murder mystery. I enjoy watching the two leads fight their way through the corruption that's been set against them and the lead female character is so terribly damaged and flawed, that I find her an interesting character study.

  • The ending was a little anti-climatic but the home movie made me weepy. I hope there's a season 3 in our future.

    I won't be watching if there is. I was pretty disgusted by the ending. What, are there only 15 people in the entire town? Everybody knows everybody else? The escort service was a red herring, the teacher was a red herring, the mobster past was a red herring. The whole thing made not a lick of sense. Gah.

  • The escort service actually tied in the aunt, her affair and her desperation to snag her client. The teacher was a logical suspect however I didn't care for the terrorist angle they briefly went for.
