5 Shows After Dark: Lot of Nice Photo Shoots for this Show. Too Bad I Already Hate It.

"Parks and Recreation" on NBC at 8:30pm ET.

"New Girl" on Fox at 9:00pm ET. For some reason Fox has a couple of their Tuesday night comedies on tonight. Specifically this and "The Mindy Project".

"Archer" on FX at 10:00pm ET.

"Hannibal" on NBC at 10:01pm ET. Series premiere. I hate things like this. I hate them. I've read Red Dragon, Silence of the Lambs, and Hannibal and Hannibal is the absolute worst out of all of them. Both because it was more poorly written than the other two (seriously, was the editor afraid he'd end up on Harris's dinner table?) but also because it negates what made Dr.Lecter interesting. Dr.Lecter was interesting (and terrifying) because there was a sense that you could never really know his mind. He was far more intelligent than the average human and obviously saw the world in a very different way, and that was the best thing about him. Hannibal, the book, ruined that and I suspect "Hannibal", the TV show, will also ruin it more. I want my super intelligent villains at a healthy remove, dammit! And not the "CSI" style healthy remove of "They've left us a trail of increasingly unintuitive clues that we solve via non-sequiturs!" but rather "Huh, that guy is off the charts IQ wise and thinks it's a great idea to kill and eat people. So... how do we know he's wrong?" Anyway. Mads Mikkelson will be playing Dr.Lecter so I guess that's a good thing.

"Scandal" on ABC at 10:02pm ET.

Genevieve Burgess will talk your ear off about the stilted language in Hannibal if you give her half a chance.

I will watch anything Madds is in, even if it's him just watching paint dry. I love him and find him extremely sexy. All his foreign films are freaking awesome. Seriously, haven't hated any of them yet. He is delicious as Hannibal.

  • Pants-are-a-must

Mikkelsen just blew it out of the park, and Hugh Dancy does hurty eyes so good. I'm officially fascipulsinated.

  • annoyingmouse

I watched Hannibal and actually liked it. It's about as a good as a procedural/horror drama that network TV is going to get. It was actually pretty grissly for NBC. I definitely enjoyed it enough to check it out next week.

  • Darlene

I loved Hannibal, and you should have heard the SQUEEE when I realized Eddie Izzard and Gillian (effing) Anderson are in the upcoming episode!!! Television WIN.

  • Viking

I love Mads and watched for him, but saw those two and sqee'd my own damn self. I'm excited, and hope they don't f' up this show. I like that Mads is not trying to imitated Anthony Hopkins playing Lecter. He's a much quieter, but still intense and creepy version of Lecter, at least so far.

  • PDamian

I'm a major fan of Mads ... but that's just not enough to get me to watch Hannibal. I agree: once the mysteries of his provenance and motivations were gone, so was Lecter's appeal as a character.

  • I'm 4 minutes into Hannibal and about 3 of them have been in slow-mo and incredibly annoying and I'm about one minute before turning it off.

  • toblerone

I found it meh overall but will keep watching because; first it's E.P'd by Bryan Fuller and second:

  • ?

I don't even remember any women aside from the dead ones. But I guess I was too distracted by shirtless Hugh Dancy and his hair.

  • toblerone

????! Caroline Dhavernas / Jaye Tyler from Wonderfalls (still Fuller's best show to date).

    Alana Bloom in Hannibal.

  • Yeah, no clue.

  • Though Hugh Dancy is awfully cute and curly-haired.

  • Matt C.

Clearly you've never seen any previous Bryan Fuller show. If you had, you'd recognize that subject matter and source material mean nothing.

  • KC

Thank you pointing this out. I was a bit nervous about this but the minute I heard Bryan Fuller was in on it I was immediately reassured.

Great, just when I had no reason to watch NBC ever again they drag me back in.

  • TheOriginalMRod

Yep, I find Mads strangely sexy... In kind of a creepy way...
