5 Shows After Dark: I'm Thinking the Heavy Eye Makeup and Baseball Cap Are a No-No

"Feed the Beast" on Travel at 9:00pm ET. Series premiere. This is a new series that seeks out the best late-night food in the cities they explore. First episode is San Francisco. I don't know about the rest of you, but most of my late night (aka: post drinking) food stops have a lot less to do with what restaurants I've seen profiled on the Travel channel or good Yelp reviews and a lot more to do with 1. How close they are in relation to me right now and 2. How much cheese is on the food they serve. That said, if they go to Miami, I will be watching that episode closely to see if they get it right.

"The Rachel Zoe Project" on Bravo at 9:00pm ET. Fifth season premiere.

"The Americans" on FX at 10:00pm ET.

"Psych" on USA at 10:00pm ET.

"Dukes of Melrose" on Bravo at 10:30pm ET. Series premiere. A new reality series about two guys who run a couture clothing shop in Melrose and blah blah blah, oh my god, are these people PAYING to be on reality shows now? I swear there's like two new ones out every month and they all focus on eerily similar segments of the population. Like this show comes after Rachel Zoe's show and Brad Goreski's show, so it's just the Bravo "Night of Clothing That Costs More Than Your Car" or something.

Genevieve Burgess would love a dress that costs more than her car if you've got one to spare.

Psych is still on the air? I don't mean that to be snarky. I vaguely recall watching the first season or two, and I don't remember why I stopped, it was an ok show. I can't believe it is still going though. I have nothing more to add. Just kinda amazed me.

I was just looking at the places they went to on the Feed the Beast show and I'm a bit confused as to who this show is targeted at. I mean, all the places they picked are good, so that isn't it, it's just that they are also all really popular already. I can't imagine they are targeting people who already live here- if you're the kind of person regularly looking to satisfy the drunchies at 2am you already know about Butter, El Farilito and Yuet Lee.

So is it for people who may want to visit? If so, are you really going to plan to end your bar crawl near one of these three places? They aren't smack downtown or anything so that would take planning. I mean, the host is fun but taquerias and bars with food windows (wow did the website try to make Butter sound way fancier than it is- it's a medium sized bar with a food window.) don't really make for a good food-porn type show either... I guess it just confuses me.

So this is how Travel tries to make up for losing Bourdain?

The fashion shows on Bravo seem to be peripherally connected to all the shows that Stacy London is producing for TLC, only her shows are for "real-sized" women and the boutiques that pursue them. Oh, and there's one or two of those on Lifetime now, too. IT'S A CONTAGION, PEOPLE!

A 10:30 start on the reality show means that Bravo has no faith in a second season of It's A Brad, Brad World but once again give Rachel Zoe a full hour to cause nightmares.

"it’s just the Bravo “Night of Clothing That Costs More Than Your Car” or something." Ha!

I read something somewhere about the preponderance of certain jobs in tv shows -- writer, detective, architect and how it compared to % of people who had those job IRL. It was, of course, completely skewed.

    Southland!!! @ 10 on TNT!

Suburgatory @ 9:31 on ABC. No exclamation point as the show has struggled this year.

i hope keri russel never opts for plastic surgery. she's just getting prettier as her face matures, imho.

  • idiosynchronic

She looks like Gina Carrano in that picture - it's the facial expression from Haywire mostly. And I like it.
