5 Shows After Dark: The Triumphant Return of Batmanuel

"Bones" on Fox at 8:00pm ET.

"The Voice" on NBC at 8:00pm ET. Fourth season premiere. It appears they've lost Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo and have replaced them with Shakira and Usher. Riveting stuff, really.

"Bates Motel" on A&E at 10:00pm ET. I liked the first episode of this for a lot of reasons, but the best part of it was when Nestor Carbonell showed up because it meant that I'd get to use my Batmanuel header picture again. It's not that hard to make me happy. Especially when Batmanuel is involved.

"Burning Love" on E at 10:00pm ET.

"Revolution" on NBC at 10:00pm ET. First season spring premiere. There has to be someone whose job it is to determine the right length of time that a show can go on hiatus without everyone assuming it's been cancelled. Whoever is doing that job at NBC is terrible at it, because I totally thought this had been taken out back and shot until a week or so ago when I started hearing ads for it and got really confused. Then again, lately it seems like most people at NBC are terrible at their jobs. Maybe I should send them my resume.

Genevieve Burgess's book is now available on Kindle so that's what will be here this week.

Uncool, man. I clicked on this because I thought the actual, real Batmanuel was back. YOU KNEW I WOULD.

    Massive shenanigans. Cruel.

  • Kballs

Batmanuel's expression is telling me, "The check bounced. I will now burn this costume with me in it."

  • Long_Pig_Tailor

I am convinced I could run NBC better than whatever imbecile is running NBC right now. I'll admit up front I'd put a heavy focus on strong cult programming, but I'd try and find the wider hits, too. And no matter what the accountants say, I would not program more than four reality hours a week outside of summer. Ever.

Da fuck is NBC? Cable access channel?

But for the basketball tournament, alas...

Also, Batmanuel is inspired, but equally so was the animated series' equivalent, Die Fledermaus. So great. One of the five best things from the 90's.

    And
so he says to me, you want to be a bad guy? and I say Yeah Baby!
I want to be bad! I says Churchill space ponies I'm making gravy
without the lumps! Ah ha ha ha ha haaaaa!!!!!

  • Ian Fay

I love the original cartoon, but I really think Batmanuel is a much better incarnation. Better pun, great comic actor.

    "Roof Pig, Most Unexpected"

So which one is Batmanuel going to be on? Bones?

  • Genevieve Burgess

He's on "Bates Motel" as a police officer in the town where Norma and Norman live. His character seems distressingly dour and un-Batmanuel like, but I'm committed now.

  • Mr_Zito

Someone should do a Kickstarter for The Tick movie. That show couldn't be very expensive. If it goes over the goal they can also fund a Batmanuel solo movie.
