5 Shows After Dark: The Final Cumberbatchering. OR IS IT?!?

By Genevieve Burgess | Miscellaneous | February 28, 2013 | Comments ()

"Community" on NBC at 8:00pm ET.

"Zero Hour" on ABC at 8:00pm ET. I haven't looked yet, you guys, is it bad? I feel like it's really bad. Like, the kind of bad where you're embarrassed for everyone on screen while you're watching and digging around in your pockets for change to offer them so they can stop being on this awful show.

"Parade's End" on HBO at 9:00pm ET. Mini-series finale. So I can stop assaulting (or pandering to) all of you with Benedict Cumberbatch pictures. Yesterday several of you pointed out that Rebecca Hall is in this and also doing a fantastic job, so I made sure to throw her in today. Also, whoever mentioned yesterday's picture resembled a "melting Matthew Crawley" may be my brain twin, because I thought something very similar when I first saw it. Then I thought how much better "Downton Abbey" would have been if they'd hired an actor with a range beyond "pleasant surprise" and "petulant frustration" for the role of Matthew Crawley. But hey, bygones are bygones.

"Archer" on FX at 10:00pm ET.

"Nathan For You" on Comedy Central at 10:30pm ET. Series premiere. I swear, there's new shows headed up by comedians premiering every damn week right now and I can't keep track of which are scripted, which are talk show format, and which are sketch comedy. I think this one is sketches. I'm wary, because sometimes I get engrossed in something on my computer as "The Colbert Report" is ending and then looking back at the TV at just the wrong moment as "Tosh.0" comes on and I end up watching a YouTube video of someone permanently damaging themselves or spraying some sort of body fluid on unsuspecting bystanders. I'm not a fan, is what I'm saying, and I am extremely dubious of Comedy Central's judgement now.

Genevieve Burgess would very much like it if you bought her book. Please?

Zero Hour is dumb, but rather entertaining. I'm a sucker for conspiracy stories. The only downside is that Nazis are involved, again.

The only downside is that Nazis are involved, again.

And that ABC has already cancelled it. (They do intend to show the remaining episodes eventually.)

We are all skeptical of Comedy Central of late. I was kind of in to The Burn, but I'm feeling icky about The Jeselnik Offensive and I'm trying to deny Daniel Tosh's existence. The network seems to be throwing absolutely everything against the wall in seven-episode increments, and there's no judgement going into any of it.

  • Genevieve Burgess

I haven't watched The Jeselenik Offensive yet, so my entire opinion of it was that if I was slightly cross eyed, I might not make a dimly lit close up of my face the ad campaign for my show.

Wow, that coat is has a lovely silhouette.

Best thing ever was Cumberbatch being snippy about Sherlock losing an award or something to Downton then saying that, no, really, it's lovely and he knows people who work on it and stuff.

F#$! Yeah! Plus it just got renewed for another year!

Legit, the new sitcom on FX starring Jim Jefferies, Dan Bakkedahl, and DJ Qualls is worth some play on the after dark listings. I should hate it, but it works.

I watched the first episode of Zero hour, and plan to watch more. It was ... not awful.
