“American Idol” on Fox at 8:00pm ET. I wonder how much it chaps Simon Cowell’s ass that “American Idol” is still riding high while his “X Factor” pet project is sinking into the reality show graveyard. Probably a lot. That thought made me giggle.

“Super Bowl’s Greatest Commercials 2012” on CBS at 8:00pm ET. Don’t let the title fool you, these are all commercials from previous years and as we know when it comes to network television “greatest” is pretty damned subjective.

“Inside Nature’s Giants: Great White Shark” on PBS at 10:00pm ET. I’ve seen this show a couple of times, it’s where they perform on camera necropsies on extremely large animals. The python one I saw most recently was ok, but nothing beats the sperm whale one a few weeks ago where the woman who is one of the hosts was ecstatically describing the whale’s musculature structure while standing ankle deep in whale gore on a beach in an almost full containment suit. It’s surreal. And informative. This week, we get to see what the guts of great white sharks look like.

“The Real World/Road Rules Challenge” on MTV at 10:00pm Et.

“The Soup” on E at 10:00pm ET.

Or when she started getting frantically excited about the sperm whale's penis (note: IT'S OPPOSABLE) and was yelling for them to stop the machines so she could show it to the camera!

Sign me up for the great white shark.

Define riding high. Idol's ratings are at their lowest since Season 1, which premiered unannounced over the summer and took a long time to gain an audience.

Mrs. Julien, I thought you were afraid of sharks.

Whales too.

THE CHALLENGE! WOOOO!

Mrs J when I was a kid I was shreiking-freaking afraid of whales. Our bedroom carpet was midnight (deep sea) blue, and if I had to pee in the night, I leaped to take the fewest possible steps. Just en case it was an enchanted carpet, I guess (rolls eyes). But now...a shark's penis sounds like good fun to watch (on a TV screen).

I swear I saw that photo and thought "SHARK WEEK IS BACK?!" and then I had to slap myself because I knew that this wasn't the case.

I guess what I'm saying is fuck you for making me think it was Shark Week when it wasn't.

Fredo, I almost posted a picture of the "Inside Nature's Giants" crew standing next to a very dead great white but thought that might offend some people. My apologies.

when shark guts are the highlights of the night you know the TV is bad.

Quite alright,Genevieve. It was just...I miss Shark Week!

Between me and my unresponsive we've owned more MP3 players upwards the years than I can description on, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (total up to of talent & poke one's nose in with), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the loam not diverse years I've settled down to eremitical confines of players.
