5 Shows After Dark: Let's Be Honest, You'd Let This Woman Feed You Anything

By Genevieve Burgess | Miscellaneous | January 22, 2013 | Comments ()

"The Taste" on ABC at 8:00pm ET. Series premiere. This is a new cooking competition series where everyone is judged on a blind, single bite taste test. Judges include Pajiba favorites Anthony Bourdain and Nigella Lawson. Bad news is that because this is a two hour premiere, "Don't Trust the B" and "Happy Endings" have been bumped. And, as Dustin wrote, this means bad things for "Don't Trust the B" and probably slightly less bad but still not good things for "Happy Endings". But hey! Nigella Lawson, right? Update: Per James Van Der Beek's twitter, "Don't Trust the B in Apt. 23" has effectively been cancelled and there's no indication of when or if they'll air the remaining episodes. Sad.

"Justified" on FX at 10:00pm ET.

"Parenthood" on NBC at 10:00pm ET. Fourth season finale.

"Private Practice" on ABC at 10:00pm ET. Series finale. Oh, hey! They're finally putting this show to bed! You know, four seasons too late (at the least) but I guess better late than limping along for another two or three seasons, right?

"White Collar" on USA at 10:00pm ET. Fourth season winter premiere. Because I constantly think of this show as "That show where Matt Bomer wears nice suits" I tend to confuse it with "Suits" pretty regularly. I'm sure that problem would clear itself up if I watched either of those shows regularly.

Genevieve Burgess is seriously considering hibernating til March. Make that April.

Can't someone out there in Hollywood invent a NEW way of doing reality TV? I'm so sick to the back teeth of the ridiculous amped up music, the bad editing, the terrible voiceovers. But Nigella, I shall watch...for you and your Cardigans of Awesome.

Sad about Don't Trust the B, I thought it was getting stronger in the 2nd season. LOVED the plotline about JVDB going on Dancing with the Stars and his subsequent breakdown. :)

Nigella Lawson politely rejecting people is the hottest thing I've seen on TV in a long while.

Ok ..... so, I've been living under a rock for most of the past decade. No TV .... the occasional movie. I crawl out, in mid-winter no less, and get faced with .... a preview of a cooking competition show?? This makes for compelling TV?? Really?? Why not a knitting competition, fight to the death?? Or, a bread dough rising race ..... first one to rise an inch and a half wins the prize!!!! And tell us what she'll win Johnny ....!!!!

Also, RIP B in 23. Because things I love always go away.

Sad over the B, but the happy of Justified outweighs it.

  • Slash

Just what TV needed, another cooking competition. Thank goodness.

    bender in the Hamptons time...

  • Luke Anthony Matthews

I know it's not actually on today and airs on Sundays, but can we please get some pajiba love for Enlightened....Girls gets so much coverage here, when Enlightened is the best program of the night!

  • Sara_Tonin00

Wasn't there actually a post here last week telling people to get on the Shameless train?

  • Luke Anthony Matthews

I've missed the Shameless hype, I hear the American one is very similar to the British one which I've already seen.

BOO ABC!!!! BOO!!! With all your Modern Family / Disney money you should at be able to least float DTTBIA23 or give it a proper send off.

There really is no reason for me to watch ABC anymore except Suburgatory.

So, Seattle Grace: will she or won't she?

I vote no. What the hell would she do back there now? Deliver Mer and Der's baby?

Maybe the Beek can get a recurring arc on True Blood. They can always use more naked man candy there. Not like they're spending the money on good writing, so...

  • KatSings

Kate Walsh was interviewed about that, and she said unless they came up with a really compelling story for a guest appearance, she couldn't imagine going back. That her story there was finished and it didn't make sense to go back.

Fair enough, says I. Maybe they can make a senator out of her on Scandal. Migration from Grey's to Scandal seems to be the trend at Shondaland lately.
