5 Shows After Dark: I Could Have Used a Christmas Tree, But This Seemed Better

"Christmas in Rockefeller Center" on NBC at 8:00pm ET. Only 26 shopping days left until Christmas! Or for my fellow procrastinators, only two more weeks until you absolutely have to put "Christmas gifts" on your to-do list. Also, I find it weird how many Christmas specials are on with nearly four weeks to go. Aren't we blowing our Christmas load a little early, networks? Premature ejinglelation?

"Saturday Night Live: SNL Christmas" on NBC at 9:00pm ET.

"Supernatural" on The CW at 9:00pm ET.

"The Hour" on BBCA at 9:00pm ET. Second season premiere. I'm assuming this is the American premiere and not the real premiere so most of you who are fans have probably already found nefarious ways of watching this.

"American Horror Story" on FX at 10:00pm ET.

Genevieve Burgess is making her list and checking it twice.

The Hour is currently my favorite thing coming out of the BBC. I watch every episode 5 times the day it airs. Don't even judge. The show is just THAT beautiful and slick and brilliantly acted and have I mentioned beautiful? The addition of Capaldi was a stroke of genius.

You just contributed to my daily healthy dose of Ben Whishaw. Thank you.

    Suburgatory!!! @ 8:30

The Hour Sweet! I've missed seeing the lovely Romola Garai.

  • Uriah_Creep

Tonight's Suburgatory really pissed me off. I have nothing against product placement, but when they write the product into the script (and as a fairly important plot point to boot), they have gone too far. Even Chuck wasn't this brazen about it. BOO!!

  • Blake

Yes, the episode was pretty weak I must admit. The George / Dallas story wasn't bad but the Tess / Lisa story was probably the worst one for the pairing of the series. Usually anytime Lisa Shay is on screen you get something special but last night it just felt forced.

    Really Tessa? A Surface Tablet?

  • BWeaves

I normally love costume porn and British stuff, but I just cannot get into The Hour. I've tried several times (once today at lunch even), and it just bores me to tears.

  • Guest

I was swept away by it. Amazing stuff. Can't wait for more.

  • Mrs. Julien

I'm right there with you. Mr. Julien is enjoying it though. I'm looking forward to Ripper Street in January: costumes AND Matthew Macfadyen speaking.

  • Meg

AH HA! So that's where I recognized Q from!
